Hello i am very new to this board but it hought i could express the way i feel about Pop Culture in the world today..... so this is a true story; I was waling through the mall a couple of days ago and i walked in to a store and i saw this girl she looked like she was about 10 or 11 and she was wearing a tube top and short shorts and playform shoes, and she was fighting with her mom that that was the way all the stars dressed and her mom asked her "oh yeah like who" and the girl replied Brittney Spears, J LO, and Christina Agularia. and i was bafulled because i was like wow kids today are different form when we were growing up. i mean sure we had platform shoes ( which were influenced by the Spice Girls) but we didnt dress like them. i cont believe how kids todya are dressing. and i knwo i sound like a mom but i am just as shocked as some parents are. i just hoguth i would share this story with some people just in case other people felt the same way.....

Well in my opinon the media is always gonna have an influence on todays kids. Everyone remebers when they wanted to dress up like the Jackson 5 or be the girls in the videos. I myself still act out some of the dance moves that the girls today do in the videos. I won't go as far as dressing like them if its not appropriate but acting out certain things has helped me excell as the thesbian i am today. But a lot of parents should not let there kids dress certain ways for todays society can get a woman called names that shouldn't be said.

I am not sure how old all you guys are..Im probably older than all of you ( i registered for this site when i was still a teen and havent written in here much since).I know exactly how you feel about pop culture today and how its influencing young kids. Its just not right. This is where I start to sound like a parent or a grandparent telling a "when I was your age"kind of story, but I do not remember things being this way when I was about 10 years old or younger. I admit that when I was a child in the mid to late 80s( going back a ways), I dressed like Madonna..but only in the house within the context of playing pretend or Dress Up..( of course that was before the whole Sex book and cone shaped bra phase, but thats besides the point)I wouldnt have dared to leave the house dressed like that and my parents would have never allowed me to.Thats the way it should be.Last week, I saw girls who didnt seem much older than 12 with more makeup than I wear( and its been a while since I was that age), little shorts and a Playboy bunny fake tattoo. I didnt even know what that symbol meant at that age and thats how it should be. Nowawdays, thanks to Britney and Paris Hilton being"role models"(thats a whole other post..or a book I could write about how she makes me sick), kids are growing up too fast and leaving much less innocence left for them..and thats very sad for me to face. I mean..the most disturbing thing I had ever seen was kids..that looked about 9 or 10 going crazy over Paris, who got famous for doing nothing except be from a rich family, waste and selfishly spend Daddys money, have release a aex tape, be conceited and vain and just a spoiled idiotic whore. THIS is what kids aspire to? Why? Thats a surefire sign that there is something very wrong with pop culture when "people" like Paris are glorified and deemed to set an example and to be worshipped. Its just very sick and very sad.

I doubt those stars actually dress like that while grocery shopping or walking around the house. It's just an image they want to give off.
