If you live in Los Angeles and like rock, the obvious radio station is KROQ-106.7. This weekend they are playing rock of the 90's only. It's so cool. They are actually playing old good stuff like Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Bad Religion, Sublime,Pearl Jam, Stone temple Pilots, and the GOOD No Doubt songs. The new stuff is crap. But every album from Tragic kingdom and before rocks. Also i forgot the Smashing Pumpkins. It's nice. A weekend free of Story of the year, and all the other poser bands that have come along. Right now KROQ is playing an old Depeche Mode song, "Enjoy the Silence". (Check out KROQ.com)And don't forget another awesome band, Social Distortion.

If we're all pushing radio stations, I suppose I should do my part. If you are ever up here in Minnesota, you should only listen to Drive 105. I know it's a ***** to try and tune into (they have three frequencies, all of which have static), but it's worth it. It's one of five FM stations in the Twin Cities that is not owned by the sons of *****es known as ClearChannel. And they have damn good music, the DJs don't talk forever, and there's not a lot of commercials. That's all.

Atlanta's radio station, 99X, plays some fairly decent rock and then "Upstart Bands." For instance, they were one of the first radio stations to play The Darkness, Switchfoot, Jet, Story of the Year, Damien Rice, The Living End, Thursday, etc. And they also play the classics like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Sublime, etc. I thought I'd share that with you.

Yellowcard isn't rock... not even close... quote: any band played on the radio is a sell out...
Amen... my town only plays this Hilary Duff crap. And Outkast, which isn't bad, but after hearing that 'Hey Ya!' song a few zillion times, it gets old. They also ruined Linkin Park, they only play that 'Numb' song from them... it's sad. -Sunset

Crazychild your the best. I love every band on your list, but you forgot a few. The darkness, Brand new and of course SevenDust. You can never emphasize the greatness of A.F.I. enough. They are great. I just bought the cd (sing the sorrow) and i love it!

Hey now. That's not true. It depends on the radio station. Obviously, the radio stations here won't mean anything to you. You won't think, "Ah, yes. They play solely 'Hey Ya!' and that stupid Hoobastank song on the Point." But they do. So, yes. If you are played on the Point, you've sold out. But if they play you on 92.3, that's cool, because that's the rock station, and they play actual rock. So, yeah. Just thought I'd share my opinion with you.

I LOVE the Smashing Pumpkins and Linkin Park of course. But the 2 best bands of all time are without a doubt, Nirvana and Sublime.

Have you heard of The Darkness? You'd probably like them. Think Queen meets Spinal Tap.
