I read in the newspaper about a recent study that found that "young people who watched a lot of television with sexual content were about twice as likely to start having intercourse during the subsequent year as those with little exposure to televised sex."
Not surprising, I guess. The media uses sex everywhere! Billboards, popular television shows, magazines... but they rarely deal with all the issues that accompany sex, like STDs, unwanted pregnancy, and abortion.
Is there too much sex on TV?

I think you should have sex with someone because you love them, you feel ready, and you and you partner are ready to be involved at that level. Your decision shouldn't be swayed by a TV show.
I realize TV's influence is a bit more subconscious than that, but I was watching a TV show last night and I realized that it was chock full o' sex. I'd never thought of it that way before.
Agreed just look at car magazine these days, lots of sex involved advertising. It doesnt bother me but the thing that that annoys me is all those full page "penis enlargement product ads" right in the middle of the magizine article.
I was gonna say something meaniful, I was gonna say something wise, I would have said something that meant something to me, but I lost my train of thought
Did it ever occur to you that TV, and the rest of the media has nothing to do with it, but rather poor parenting, and a severe lack of communication between parents and children. Also things that happen today have always happened, when I hear stories about my parents childhood I hear the same things we do today, only were a little more modernized. But all of our motives are the same, but now theres a media paying attention to it. This isn't a problem brought on by sex in TV, but by the lack of effective parenting.
Well I gotta say the fact that SEX SELLS is very obvious thats why it every where because people wnat you to buy their product and if they have to use sex they don't care they just want your cash.

sex sells. period. i havent figured out why. it should be about love and all that jazz, but the media destroyed that long ago. now its like AHHHH! sex is everywhere. everywhere you look and go you either hear or see it in some form.watever happened to good morales and values????
i agree with you atomic sneeze(nice name)sex is not about how much you seen it on t.v but about whether you love and respect a person enough to reach that level of intimacy.
To quote Creed (who actually has A LOT of good points in their song SIGNS)

Sex in the media has gotten to the point that you almost ALWAYS expect there to be a make-out/sex scene in every at least PG-13 movie, and at least a kiss in any G and PG movie. Does anyone else feel teh same way?
"ya you may be correct bout sex being everywhere but like said before people are going to do what there going to do regardless of tv or so on."
Umm I dunno I doubt that... they don't call this the sexual revolution era for nothing... It's expected for you to have sex before your married and have plenty of "Try-outs" especially for guys. Desensitized on the sensuality of sex I guess?
Now days there IS a ton of sex on tv but as a female I think we should take advantage of that! If guys look at us as if were an object then make them see us as an object that they NEED. Most guys I've been around treat woman with respenct though. So as lots of others say don't believe everything you see on tv! That old little saying that no one seems to remember! Or on My Big Fat Greek Wedding, "The guy is the head of the house but the woman is the neck! She can turn the head any way she wants!" Woman while looking behind a vail ARE in charge. But it's tv people! Don't think ALL guys are really like that. If sex sells it sells. Money is money so get over yourselves and take what we have and make it a good think!
There's way too much nudity, sex, bad language and sexually printed pictures of women especially shown too sexy. I think it degrades us women, and exploits us as sex objects. We don't get to see men the way they are shown visual "turn ons" of us! It's all on t.v.,magazines,billboards,Hooters restaurants, bars, booze advertisements, etc... We are still exploited and not respected enough. I am a female athlete and we are not respected enough in sports either. My Mom is right:"it's still a man's world."
ya you may be correct bout sex being everywhere but like said before people are going to do what there going to do regardless of tv or so on. i mean kids now a day need o slow it down till they are in love and ready. not just some spur of the moment thing that you see on tv.(and abercrombe needs to change there stuff i mean if anythings exploiting to kids thats def. on thing)you know thats how unplanned pregnacy's come along and thats how kids are getting emotinally strung. so stay a virgin till you yourself are ready. not if you think your ready like the people on tv there actors or if your friends are doing it or whatever you think
Some good people I know have had sex outside of marriage. They do have morals, they just don't consider having sexual relations in a non-marriage situation to be wrong.
I personally think that you should wait until marriage to have sex. I think that all the TV shows and billboards show way to much stuff about it, but that doesn't mean that people who have sex before marriage are bad people.
But there is good news. I went to one movie over the summer where there wasn't even a kiss or romantic relationship in the whole thing. I, Robot. Although I think they tried to make it kinda romantic- and failed, miserably. But that's besides the point.
Its DISGUSTING how much sex is everywhere. What about people who have morals? How do you deal with this? WE need to work together to get the world to stop with the stupid 'sex is great do it before your married' crap.

Holy hell, an 18 percent increase! Ma and Pa had better buy little Jenny a chastity belt before it's too late!
What are the odds that even half of the guys gave honest answers to the survey?
