no matter what school you go to there are gunna be some teachers that will let you listen to your ipod/mp3 player aslong as it doesnt disturb the class or they are giving a lecture case in point my french 2 teacher lets me get on here sometimes lets me watch videos and listen to music... were as my other teachers dont and guess what the school i go to doesnt allow electronics in class rooms at all but who cares and one of my freinds (drawing blank on state) his school allows the students to listen to music the entire day because it "keeps them from talking"

I'm actually doing an essay on this topic, my school has a complete blackout on all eletronic devices. Mainly mp3s and cell phones, it's really unfair that the principals expect us to be productive durring independent study when all we are going to want to do is talk. I know that when I am listening to music I talk less in classes.

depending on your taste of music, it has been proven that music calms you down, and releases endorphins(a natural feel good drug that your body creates, its also a natural pain killer too) into your system and helps you relax. when your relaxed, you think more clearly and you obviously do better. music 1, school system 0. the introduction of music would probably also decrease the amount of fights and other bad things that happen at school

I think that teachers and schools should allow music to be played as long as the teacher is not in lecture and the students are completeing bussy work. I understand why it would be considered a distraction for some schools.

You're supposed to study in school. Which means you should be studying in study hall, too. Even if you haven't any homework.

Well...because the volume that people have their headphones up...other students can hear it.

I know that music makes you think better but it is a distraction. You can't listen to music and the teacher at the same time. If it were just while you were working individually or having free time it would be ok. The problem with that is that there are some kids that would not only listen to it during those times. It would also be too much work for the teachers to control the use of the cd players and stuff. It would also take a lot of time out of the class time to get all these things out and then put them up.

I personally think that we should be allowed to listen to music as long as we have headphones on and that they aren't up too loud. I mean, during breaks and study halls and stuff we should be allowed. As long as it isn't during class time, I don't see what the big deal is. We aren't allowed at our school, but most of have them in our bags and stuff for when we get on the busses. It's stupid to me because as long as you don't use them during class you can still learn what you have to. Maybe one day they will change the rules. I doubt it, but there is always a chance.

My school allows it everywhere, including the classroom, as long as the teacher isn't talking. Go Iowa.

Our school lets us bring headphones to use on the bus, between classes, at lunch, in the bathroom, things like that.
Just no music during class time.

because teachers thinks if they let you listen to music in class, then it will make it easier for u to forget what they have said. So they what you to listen to in class instead of music. One of my teacher play song in class when she is not speaking

That's how our school is...Except we're allowed to have music during class, if the teacher is fine with it. And five out of my six teachers are.
