You know what I don't get?

Why do such idiots come to YN posting idiotic opinions with absolutely no factual research as to WHY students can't listen to music in school.

i think it is just rude music is to relax us i n school from all the work and j a c k a s s e s at school.so it should be allowed

Yo some times people can think better if they have music playing so it is about learning.So get a clue.

I CAN EASILY WALK THROUGH THE HALLS WIT A CD PLAYER AND ALL BUT DIS IS WHAT I DONT GET WHEN ITS THE END OF THE YEAR AND ALL OR IF A CLASS OR SOMETHING DOES'NT HAVE AY LESSONS PLANNED ITS NOT A PROBLEM TO LISTEN TO MUSIC I THINK ITS KINDA OFF AND IT MESSES WIT MY HEAD ACTUALLY.. SO B4 THE PRINCIPAL SAY OH CERTAIN THINGS ARE'NT ALLOWED THINK ABOUT THE TEACHERS WHO PLAY MUSIC WHILE WERE SUPPOSE TO BE DOING MATH I'M NOT COMPLAINING ON THIS CUZ MUSIC KEEPS MY MIND GOING

The school i go to doesn't even let you have cd players or md players or anything inside. We all do anyway, but if it's the end of the day and we're listening to our music as we walk down the hallways to leave they yell at us!

I think you all have forgotten the real point of school: to learn.

That's why you can't listen to music in school.

So it's just my school,huh? Cuz we listen to music alllll the time.Except when the teacher is talking or we're doing a test or quiz.But other than that we have music at lunch,gym,ect..Weird how schools can be so different from one another.

dizzywhrl22's story is like mine. My friend was listening to his walkman at indoor recess, and the teacher said that if he didn't take them off, she waould take it away untill friday. Like, come on, it's recess, we should be able 2 listen to music then.Then when we asked the teacher l8er why he can't listen to it, she just went and changed the conversation to did you do your homework last night?

because, some of the crap in music today could get a teacher fired if he/she said it, why should we listen to it?/

by the way...i've always thought that music should be played during gym class (not during a game that requires talking a lot of if it interrupts the teacher, etc). with music i get pumped up when working out and makes me more comfortable. that would really help especially if you have gym first thing in the morning.

our school never really explained why we can't listen to music. but most teachers said it disturbs other students. at lunch this girl was listening to her cd player. then a teacher told her to put it away or else she would confiscate it. i believe it's all right to at least listen to it at lunch. it's not like it's classtime. at my old school during art, the art teacher would play classical music because it helps our minds and it loosens us.

it's distracting. it's rude to the teachers. you're in school to learn, not to listen to the your new cd.

it would be really nice if we could listen to music in school, specially during classes since music can help stimulate the mind, but i guess one of the biggest problems they would be facing would be on agreeing on what to listen to. everyone would start fighting over what to listen.

At my school we can listen to music during tests and at lunch and in the library.So it's pretty cool.

I think, we can't listen to music at school because it distracts some students from their work and not everyone considers music helpful when doing work. Also people have different taste on music. So do you mean listen to music on the radio in class or just listen to music in your own personal CD player? The radio would cause some problems because like I said people have different taste in music but the CD player might work out somehow but it still may distracts others or even the person who is using the CD player themselves.

I think the only reason why music is so distracting for others is because that is not allowed in school and people tend to get all hyped up on things that aren't allowed but are done anyways. So it kind of distracts students and also some people just don't like listening to music while doing work.

Well, I don't know really, why they dont allow music in school. This is just my guessing.
