thanks DrStrangelove, didnt even see my own slip-up. "de-de-de!" anyway, i think when it comes to the "Sheer Evil" factor, Freddy gets the gold, hands down. Michael & Jason are great villians cause they kill a lot, but they are not really masterminds or anything. Freddy on the other hand is so scary because he is just soooooo evil. he really likes what he does, i mean, check his backstory. he was a child molester that got burned at the stake. he was evil before death.

But if you read the book, Michael Myers is much more fascinating....it goes through his (very demented) childhood way more in depth than just him killing his sis.

Fixed that for you.

And would someone please explain this fascination with Michael Myers? To me he's the worst of the villians. He's like a watered down Jason. The best of the old staples is Freddy Kreuger by FAR.

the verdict is in. Saw is horror, plain & simple. the Halloween series is an awesome one because it uses a lot of horror stereotypes, & Michael Myers is such a creepy killer. anyone seen The Craft? anyone seen Wolf Creek yet?

Fave: Halloween
Fave killer dude: Michael Myers

...and I most definitely classify the two Saw movies as horror because they are the only ones to really scare the shit out of me in a long time.

Okay, it was set up like a thriller, but has horror.

Saw is a friggin' horror movie, there is NO doubt about that.

I hate this over-genre-ization that we have today. "Oh it's thrilling and suspenseful so it has to be a suspense-thriller!" Never mind the fact that it's a classic horror-type movie.

What? Why can't it just be a good, thrilling horror movie?

I don't like horror movies. They freak me out. I only like cute movies or else action movies. Scary movies are not good for me. They make me afraid and I don't like being afraid.

Saw:
- Bad acting
- Some witty types of ways to die
- Cool killer
- Shocking ending
- Little gore

I'm only saying why Saw is classified as horror. It's because of the amount of gore. And really, is it that suspenseful? *Shrugs.*

And Se7en is too psychologically thrilling to be just a horror movie. It's a drama because it's a thriller.

Seven definitely has heavy horror elements to it though. It's not just simply a drama. Drama Horror maybe.

But I don't understand how you can't see how Saw is horror.

It's horror because it's gory/violent. If it was to be a "thriller" it would have to have had less gore. The best thriller (and by best, I mean one that exemplifies thriller the most) is "Trapped" with Courtney Love. It is the definition of a thriller.

And Se7en is a drama, btw. It's not considered horror OR a thriller.
