What's up with all the stupid bands on MTV like Blink 182 and Good Charlette and all that crap who think that they are punk rock? They are all a bunch of freakin posers.
#1 They look like women. #2 They dress like **** #3 Their music should be defined as "britney spears with power chords
It's absolutely ridiculous who considers themselves punks these days. True punk is underground, UP THE DIRTY PUNKS!

quote: yeah many bands didnt say they were either, they never claim to be,in the first place.people just come out and label them as punks, and then more people come out and call them posers
Great point! I know I am gonna get tons of **** for saying this, but,(quoting from the quote above) I don't understand how you can say they are posers when they never declared themselves punk in the first place, also, you have to care a little bit about the "posers" if you are spending this much time making a post about them, if you don't like them then why are you wasting your spare time writing about them?... Please feel free to correct meeh if I am wrong.

ya kno...most punk bands arent putting thse sex, prostitution, pimping crap like rap is. i like rap and basically every kind of music except for country and classical so my view isnt biased. most rappers rap about sex, violence, and stuff like that. even though the "punks" may be somewhat of posers (not completly but i can see how u couyld think that) theyre not sending that kind of message to the kids who listen to them. do u ever hear good charlotte or All American Rejects swear and talk about sex and violence??? nooooo you dont. but u listen to eminem or nelly and thats what every song is about. and NO they dont look like woman, most celebrities (men and women) have to wear makeup for pictures and crap like that. and theres some rappers that are could be considered "posers" too. i mean... notice how after nelly and eminem got big theres a lot more rappers like 50 cent...B2K tried to be like them....

I honestly think that all these hardcore punks are pretty ridiculous. I'm not saying that I love all pop music, but a lot of the punk music I've listened to is a ton of s***. Also, I think ALL punks look like girls, whether or not they're 'posers'.

Are you sure your not just jealous because they have more? There is no way you can put a definition on who or what is punk. Who cares if they wear makeup and stuff they make hella good music and Good Charlotte is the best band in the whole dam* world. What they look like and what they wear has nothing to do with the kind of message they put out. Anyways, they are still way cooler than you will ever be.

Everything worth saying has been said already, except this: SwirlingRipeLilies, you said that nobody has anything to say and nothing is original. You're right, but that's only because everything's been done! There are millions of songs out there. I've tried to write some, but the melodies end up sounding like a song I hear on the radio the next day and the lyrics mimic a song I hadn't even heard before from the sixties or something. It's no wonder that everything starts to sound similar after a while. It's funny, but I was just listening to New Found Glory and Simple Plan, and they both sound exactly the same. If I didn't know which cd I was listening to, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Also, it seems like punk is starting to lose its flair. It used to be good because it was fresh and different and new, but now there are so many bands out there that the novelty is wearing off. I guess GC and Blink-182 were just unlucky enough to come after the territory had already been staked out. If this is the case then we'll need to keep coming up with new styles every time the current ones get tired. It's too bad that everything ends up slipping into a category. Peace! ~Cb526

Who cares, its just music. everyone is different and should be able to do their own thing without getting judged. I cant stand when people call other people posers because its very judgemental about that person. Who even knows the real definition of punk? we all have our thoughts and ideas about what the definition means.

Does no one understand???!?!? Who cares that Blink, and Good Charlette aren't punk? Don't go around flappin' your gums saying 'I'm a punk, but I don't want to be labeled...why should I be labeled' and all that crap, and then come on here and label someone else! All you so called 'punks' or 'emo' kids need to get the hell over it. There will always be labels, it's how you describe people. Yes, there are genre's of music, but don't bash different genre's just because they are 'trying' to be something else. Give it a rest, just let the music be heard!
