My review: Well, the movie starts off alittle bit slow, but then gradually leads you in to scary moments and "The Rules of the Village" Which I think you have heard on the tv commercials. As the movie proceeds the main characters seem to have very close "agreement" with the creatures, I should say. And the creatures start to fighten the villagers, as well as the audience. And these characters seemed . . . . . . Skrew it. This is too complicated, who would of thought being a movie critic was so hard!! I saw The Village today!!! Right after school ended my mom and my other two brothers and my lil bro's friends (d*mnation!!). Surprised me for my birthday, which is this coming Monday, to go watch the movie I was so impatiently waiting to see. The movie was so good, my friend Jill was in the same theater watching the same movie and I didn't even know, too. She didn't like it but that's okay, I did!! I recommend it for those of you who want to get scared and surprised, if you know what I mean. I thought it had a very good plot and setting. I was really kinda waiting for a movie like this to come along, and what do you know. It does surprise you in places you wouldn't expect, and that's good. M.Night really knew what he was doing, he's in the movie, too he gives a little cameo at the end, it was really funny. Plus, the end of the movie will "shock" you, I wasn't I caught on the subject pretty quick. I don't think some of you guys would like it, but I do think it is worth a shot. Not much twists and turns but it did well. So I split on this, even though I told my family 2 thumbs up: One thumb up and One down. Although Eobert & Roeper would probably split on the thought, but I think they're going to give it a thumbs down. Anywho, go watch 'The Village' you guys!! It is worth watching, there's alot of suspense, the acting is good, the sets are great, and the story is very enlightening; and secrets will be revealed . . . . . . . Go watch it, hope I didn't give the movie away, I usually go on and on until I say the whole movie.

Gah, that movie sucked so bad. It was such a let down! It had no climax and was totally predictable. Don't waste your money on it.
Stand up, get involved! Peace.

I really want to see the Village. I see that some of you don't like it but "I have to see it to believe it".

-----"""Unless of course you like watching a retarted adult in a halloween costume chase a blind woman through a forest until he falls into a hole and dies.""" Lol. That's so funny. You put the Jew in Jookly. -----"""Although Eobert & Roeper would probably split on the thought, but I think they're going to give it a thumbs down. """ Those two morons are ****ty movie critics. They always take an extreme side, and Roeper is just...stupid, saying things like "XXX is a cool movie with great acting the audience will love!" being an *** who just wants to pander to the younger generation. But you see; he ignores such details like the acting is terrible, the movie is corny, and all the action is unrealistic CGI. But hey as long as it fits what he thinks young people like...it HAS to be good! ****ing moron.

Kudos on spoiling half the plot, guys (and having accused you of that, I'll probably inadvertently spoil the other half). Anyway, my opinion is that The Village was one of the most underrated movies of the summer. It had its scary parts in the beginning (even if the monsters did kind of look like bizarro Little Red Riding Hoods) and towards the end it switched genres entirely and tried to make a sociological point. The whole genre-flipping thing understandably ticked a lot of people off, but in my opinion, it was good when it was a horror movie and it was good when it wasn't. There was also a good romance plot involved, and Bryce Dallas Howard really shined. Are you implying you don't? quote: Things this movie had plenty of: Plot holes,
I must have missed these quote: Bad dialouge,
The dialogue was either bad or a deliberate slur of modern-day English and old-fashioned English. To be fair, it was probably just bad. quote: Ridiculous events.
Not as ridiculous as you might think. Such colonies as the one in the movie actually did exist, and they fell apart for the exact reasons this movie explained. My great-grandfather was from such a colony. While the whole use of the "monsters in the woods" threat was pretty fanciful, I don't think it was ridiculous. For me, it was kind of a "no sh*t, Sherlock" type situation, but that may just be because I live and breathe the wonderful genre of mindf*ckery. While I did pick up on the basic twist almost immediately, the very ending did surprise and elighten me. Many critics harped on this movie for having too obvious a twist, but the twist wasn't really the point; the point was the metaphor the monsters in the woods represented. Roeper went up, Ebert went down, and both felt passionate about their decision, which made for quite a hilarious review (click the speaker to hear the review). He didn't have to, he just did. Noah was retarded, and his actions pretty much only made sense to him.
And then, as the books were told, Fina replied: "A can of worms, my dear friend? What has this to do with reason?"

That movie was great, until you found out the monsters never existed. And if the girl was blind, how come Noah had to dress up like a monster to scare her?

I heard it wasn't that scary. Haven't seen it myself though.
What if what you think is great, really is great, but it's not as great as something greater?

The Village totally screwed with my head, first all these rules, and blah blah blah, it was really lacking in storyline, and it was very dull in most of the movie, but the ending somewhat took up for the beginning, did anyone notice that m. night shyamalan was the sheriff at the desk, you could see his reflection on the glass of the cabinet, kinda creepy, but the movie did make lots of sense to me, >>joey<<

Jookly is right about the crap-tacular costuming. When I saw it, I snickered and blurted out "what the **** is that supposed to be?" And there were a lot of plot holes.
I did like the basic storyline...keyword: basic. And it wasn't too predictable...I had only a "feeling" about the ending...not the usual "Well, no sh*t, Sherlock"

The movie was stupid. One of the worst I have seen. Unless of course you like watching a retarted adult in a halloween costume chase a blind woman through a forest until he falls into a hole and dies.
Things this movie had plenty of: Plot holes, Bad dialouge, Ridiculous events.
I give it a F-. Do not see the movie.
