media potrayal of girls is getting worse.they are promoting anorexia, bulimia and even tell girls is ok to act stupid.
the bad things is that the girls love to copy those influence.this may leads to other issues, for example girls this days wear less cloth than they use to ,these can increase the rape statistics.
so should the media forget about how much revenue they earn and start to concerned about the images they were potraying?

Normally...I have always ignored the media's version of "pretty", but lately, it has been seeping into my skull because I am worried that I am in the early stages of an eating disorder or something. I have NEVER been like this. I don't know where all of this sudden self-loathing [toward my body anyways...] came from but I some how know i am headed for the deep end....I am almost 16- weigh 103, and i am 5'3. I guess that is perfect enough for some people....And no...i am not blaming the media..but maybe I am because when i look at myself, i just invision a generic skinny girl-like the ones you do find in the media, and pathetically enough, I strive for that. Eww. What is wrong with me?! I have been not eating and blaming it on my A.D.D. medicine for the lack of appitite....I have actually been writing down every bit that went into my mouth in a notebook, everynight before i go to bed. Today is Christmas and all I can think about is how many freaking cookies i ate today... i know i am pathetic...i really don't know why i wrote this all...i guess just to say that---> this is what the media has done to girls.

I agree strongly with whyrandy, though i dont understand "it's all about getting your money"

I think that the media is ridiculously influential, of course you cant constantly blame others for things but as speakout3 said, without it there you wouldnt think about it.
And even men who say they like curvy women have regulations as to what's too curvy and what's not curvy enough.

The media will never forget how much concern they have for images, it's what makes it so appealing, it's what controls popularity, power, etc. The media focus' almost everything on image, everything is a competition it seems. Its very sad when you see young 12 year olds on their cellphones in their little mini skirts and high boots and fur hooded coats.

I believe we should all exercise it's healthy and makes you feel fab, but eat when you wanna eat, fuck all this calorie control shit... ughh diets and such are lame!

I do agree but there is a point where part of it is your fault and part of it isn't. for example, my boyfriend has the tendancy to become suicidle if he gets too down. Imagine now if suicide hade never been presented as an option most people would never cut. The biggest example in my school is how many people cut.

yes yes I know it's a touchy subject. My point is that it is talked about so much that more people know about it. not everyone does it but the numbers have increased.

women are also being forced to be skinnier because stores are mainly selling small clothing and hold more stock for smaller shaped women therefore promoting that skinny is beautiful.

which is of course a load of bull shit but hey.

It's real easy to say "don't let the media control or influence you" but that's nigh impossible when our ENTIRE SOCIETY is influenced by the media. Even if I choose to avoid the newsstands, the TV, the movies, etc - everyone around me has been affected by it. Even if I get to the mental and emotional point where this incredibly powerful imagery has no control over me - everyone around me is in the agreement that is based on ideas and mores set by the media. It is not a simple issue. Women, girls - be strong. It's all about getting your money, remember that.

Stop blaming the media. People need to take responsibility, not lay blame for their inability to accept what they look like.

Preach!

The original draft of The Lord of the Rings featured Chuck Norris instead of Frodo Baggins. It was only 5 pages long, as Chuck roundhouse-kicked Sauron's ass halfway through the first chapter.

Ok, I get what your saying, but you don't get the emotional part. Skinny women are usually considered beautiful, which makes guys want skinny girls. Because I don't know any guy who wants to date some fat chick. I mean can you honestly say you wouldn't rather date a skinny girl?

I will love the false image I had of you.

All I have to say is stop letting others have the power to influence you. For God's sake, it's your life not theirs.

In my down-right opinion, you are acting just as stupid as any other girl when you let someone else's lifestyle influence you to any point.

I agree with clpo. The lack of accountability and lack of judgment and responsibility in this country is outrageous and down-right pathetic.

The media has quantified girls in terms ass and breast and being skinny. Beauty is skin deep is what they are saying. Do you have to be anorexic just because u wanna look like Paris Hilton or because some cleb claims to be living off some fake diet. Stop buying into the regulations set by hollywood or Hugh Hefner. Posing nude seems to be the in thing. U dont have to do it coz Britney did or get a boatox, facelift or whatever coz Beyonce thinks she will havve it.
