Lately I've really fallen into punk rock, not just recent stuff but the Sex Pistols, The Kinks, The Ramones, The Clash, The Who, and Elvis Costello too.

I also like Vampire Weekend, Phantom Planet, Cold War Kids, Less Than Jake, Rancid, Streetlight Manifesto, LoveHateHero, DanceGavinDance, Bayside, Zebrahead, Butthole Surfers, Brokencyde, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, Calvary Kids, The Buzzcocks, Dead Kennedys, Sheet Monkies, and a bunch of indi-techno-pop-rock bands.

lol. daft punk... are you serious?

techno is very expansive. i don't like extratone for instance because i believe a song that plays at 15000 bpm is just noise (not saying it doesn't take a lot of effort to make just saying its not my tastes.)

generally the fastest i get is splittercore which is around 800 bpm. I also enjoy breakcore, happy hardcore, gabber and speedcore

lately i've been listening to reggae breakcore.

well, 3 Doors Down is amazing....but citzen soldier does kinda suck. lol.hmmm, family force 5 is like my fave for dance songs and Framing Hanley is like my bedtime music. Listen to Saliva or Trapt if you wanna get pumped and listen to Staind if you wanna be a sad emo kid. Ryan Cabrera is like my guilty pleasure. I hate to admit that i listen to him.

Never ever listn to Britney Spears if your life depends on it. Never listen to anything that falls under the boy band category! stay away from the Jonas Brothers 3/4 of the time.

I dont see anything wrong with 3 doorsdown some of their music is good.

Cant stand barry manalow and techno music though idk how people listen to that stuff ugh.

Some good bands to listen to are Slipknot, Buck cherry, seether, Dead or Alive, And marolin manson. not a big fan of manson just like one of his songs so far.

lehauser, I was saying the exact same thing to my friend when we were at the theaters the other day! It is obvious that by using a major band to project the image of a soldier as being exclusively heroic, strong, invincible, etc., and then showing it in movies that teenagers are watching that the National Guard is trying to get kids to see it and want to join. It's not showing the truth of what being a soldier entails, and yes, it doesn't show women either, which is bothersome that they receive no recognition for their work. I do not like it at all, and it makes me uncomfortable to watch because it is so one-sided.

Ok can it be both? Guilty pleasures like Hansen and the Spice Girls (yeah, bringing it back old school). Love Michael Jackson's music too, even though I'm not a fan of him as a person.

I also just discovered Vampire Weekend and they definitely rock.

What NOT to listen to? Slow, depressingly sad country music - I'm into more of the Pat Green style country.

I sort of have to agree. The "Citizen Soldier" song that they play at the Marcus Cinemas really bothers me. I think it's a horrible showcasing of 1. "oh the big bad usa is coming to save the day" and 2. It's all about the dudes. No woman! It's this wierd heroic showdown and it's TOTALLY crappy and CREEPY. I dont' like it and I think we should start a petition to at least get it off the big screen at cinemas. WORD.
