The media has and is heavily promoting the Western beauty as the ideal beauty. Do you agree or disagree?

Same for girls. I like husky guys. I hate skinny guys. It makes me feel unsafe when they're skinny.

I think true beauty is people who are able to look ethereal and god/goddess-like without the help of makeup, surgery, crash diets, gyms, and tans. Of course this is a rarity, but those are the truly stunning people that catch your breath in awe.

Most people nowadays are skinny and slim not because of the people that they are trying to impress but mostly they do it because they feel like they need to improve themselves better. The people that you and i both know that doesn't promote the anorexic lifestyle are the minorities. There are still a large number of people, youth, children who are concern about their looks and think that they should be what the media tells them to be.

I think I agree with you, Knight. There's a definite difference between bueaty and sexyness. And even being pretty. Each word has slightly different connotations.

See there are two different types of attractiveness: being beautiful and being sexy. now your born beautiful or your not. Sexy is a state of mind and people will see that your in that mindset and people are more attracted to sexiness than beauty.

The original draft of The Lord of the Rings featured Chuck Norris instead of Frodo Baggins. It was only 5 pages long, as Chuck roundhouse-kicked Sauron's ass halfway through the first chapter.

Yeah...exactly...but hun, you really can't listen to what they say....it's up to you. You know, there's not one person in this world that is completely happy with their body or the way they look...some have it worse thn others. I have pretty fair skin...and I wish I could tan so much better...I'm short...I was I was about 4 or 5 inches taller...things like that....but I accpet my body in spite of it all and in spite of what others are teliing me. Now, if I start to look unhealthy, I'd want some one to tell me...but that's a whole other story.

I don't think their necesarily saying fair skin is prettier than darker skin tones, just to embrace it. Where I'm from, it's still all about having a tan. And people are becoming more awarwe of skin disease. I was just talking to a friend who is a bout 5'6" and weighs about 130 (normal weight for some one her height and age) and her friend is is half a foot shorter and 22 pounds lighter than her is tellingher she's fat. I'm like are you crazy? Just because some one doesn't look like you or like you think they should, doesn't mean they're not beautiful. It may sound chessy, but everyone is beautiful in their own way...sorry had to say it.

Lol! No no i do agree that everyone is beautiful in their own way. I'm from Malaysia and the local company here are telling us that being fairer is better and having a lean slim body is the way to go. Even though the media is coming up, is it just a gimmick? Or is it truthfully and sincerely them trying to tell us to love ourselves for the way we are?

Speaking of your friend, I know a lot of people like that. Those the ones who feel that everyone should be looking as thin as her. It's annoying and hurtful to others. I suppose that they're too involve in the media and has lost themselves in the world of cosmetics.

I once watched a show on Oprah discussing different descriptions of beauty and how children as young as 3 years old are affected by it. It's horricfic to see that a 3 year old girl won't go out of the house because she thinks that she needs make up or she'll look ugly or even a 7 year old girl eating only fruits and vegetables because she doesn't want to get fat.

Hahaha! I agree. But don't you think that the media plays a huge role in influencing the young people's mind? Telling them that being skinny looks good and healthy and that being slighty chubby or thick shouldn't even be an option to go for? Besides that, alot of these cosmetics company are telling us that having fair skin is prettier than having a slighty darker skin tone. Should the media take action and promote better self esteem?
