The RIAA is invading the privacy of users. If you are worried about getting subpoenaed, go here. If you'd like information on how to make p2p legal while getting artists paid, here are a few good links about that and other things you should know about the RIAA: Boycott RIAAElectronic Frontierr FoundationRIAA hit listRIAA music nazisthe RIAA is a monopoly that has been jacking up cd prices for years. Fortunately, there is hope. Check out this article about how fast wholesale prices on cd's are falling. Now we all have to hope that the RIAA is toppled and shown for the overinflated monstrosity that it is.

free downloads are good for some people, bad for others. bad for the big stars who want money. good for the independent bands who want more listeners.
I wanna keep it though....it's gotten me into a lot of music recently, which is cool!

quote well luvabug, u see, the problem with that is that the people who made the cd and actually produced and copywrighted the songs aren't getting any money from this. Now i see what u mean by only listening to one song on the cd, but its not fair to the people that made this cd because they're not gettin money.
hmm...my conscience doesnt care..they have enough money anyways.

Gem, I think they were talking about you, they just misspelled your name. I'll help them out, because I'm a nice person.

to me the only negative of piracy is for all the new artists. it makes it that much harder to break into the music scene. all the other household names, really do get their money some way or the other. i mean, just watch cribs and you'll know what i'm talking about.
and yes CDs are so freaking expensive! I definitely support piracy in third world countries- tehy justcan't afford it. in the philippines a lot of people who work in offices get paid less than 200 dollars for a months work and they have families to feed. household help is like 30 dollars a month. the thing with the p2p thing is you can't limit it to only a certain location or evn to a certain group. music/ entertainment isn't only for those with the money. it's for evryone, but it takes a lot of money and that sucks.

quote Why don't they simply shut-down the Kazaa website so no one else can download the software and P2P networking crap?
kazaa folded so i think you can still download but you just cant put it on cds..idk i havent downloaded in a while its just something my friend told me.
but i say keep it, i mean if i like a song, why would i go out and pay $15 for the cd if its the only song ull listen to? i dont care if people call it stealing..it makes much more sense to have a cd with songs you like then to have 10 cds with only 1 or 2 songs on each that you like.
