This past Friday, I was kicked out of a movie theater for sneaking into "Saw" with one of my friends. The same guy had stopped us earlier in the middle of the hallway and asked to see our tickets right out of the blue. We were standing at a bench waiting for our movie("The Grudge") to start and he told us that he would kick us out if he saw us in the hallway again. Ironically, both my friend and I wanted to see "Saw" as many of my friends had said it was great. Probably not the smartest move to make. In a theater of probably 45 people, 90% of which were to young to see the movie, he kicked my friend and myself out. Talk about an a$$hole.
The point I am trying to get across is that the MPAA rating system is one of the most flawed in the world. Yes there should be restrictions on age but how bout making them more reasonable. Just the week before I saw "Team America" at the same theater. Both movies are rated R. Every movie that is of some interest to the youth of America is given a high rating. We see gore, death, nudity, and violence on the news, TV, and internet every day of our lives, we hear swearing in school yards and lunch rooms, but we can't see a movie where they say the F-word. And why is it that we can't see a R-rated film in theaters but we sure as hell can rent it from the video store?
This weekend, I'm getting two tickets for "Saw" off Fandango and I want to see just what that man says.
hey in my country..(India)the way the movies are made are soo ****ing bad.good movies like say one which uncovers the scary truth about riots and all are actually banned !!and sad, soppy brainless stuff like well the usual indian movies with a goody-two-shoes lead actress falling in love with the too-perfect-to-be-true guy and some more brainless soap bubles to fill up the rest are given a 5 star rating..can u guess why??because the lead actor has a lot of political influence on the film industry!!!and even if the movie sucks..the actor will get an award at one of those soppy indian awards for something or the other..if there isint a catagory for him, then theyll make a catagory just for him!!! ah well i guess here money makes this world go round..

Perhaps they caught him sneaking in, or they noticed that unlike the other underage kids he was neither with a parent/guardian nor someone who could pass as a parent/guardian. Just a thought.

I totally agree on this. The rating system is OK but restricting is bad. Restrictions should only be made on serious things (penetration = >18 only).
What I also think is kind of ironic is that you can burn, slice, chop, fry, cut, and break skin, but once you show it, then that means controversy and an instant 100% guaranteed R rating.
All most teens ever do is complain and complain. What they haven't realized yet is that it doesn't help anything.
Though I agree with your point on the rating system, you can not get mad at the worker for doing his job. you didn't pay to see that movie, for whatever reason, therefore you shouldn't be taking up their movie theater space.
I do think the ratig system is flawed. For much the same reasons tha thave been stated. I do doubt it would ever chage though. they expect that you need to be at a certain maturity level to handle some movies so they judge on age.

For once, I sort of agree with savage. I do think we should keep the rating system, simply because people deserve to know what they're getting into. Otherwise, those of us who are less socially liberated might go into convulsive seizures, or something. Can you imagine if jamaica saw a bare breast on a movie screen? I think her head might actually explode.
However, entry to these movies should not be restricted based on rating or content. It's just ridiculous to do so. If you deny a twelve-year-old boy admission to a movie because it says the "F" word too many times, that boy will probably just walk away muttering "F!ckin f!ckers who won't f!ckin let me into their f!ckin movie." Also, it's rather absurd to deny permission to a movie based on nudity when any kid with an Internet connection can access porn instantly. And, as savage points out, we can just rent these films later, anyway.
Also, what designates an "R" rating needs to be changed. It is my experience that violence can get pretty hefty in movies that slide by with a PG-13 rating. However, if the sexual innuendo gets turned up to the point where an eight-year-old might have some vague idea that it's sexual innuendo, boom, we have an R.
Annoying P.S. - Sneaking into movies is wrong.

Because the ****ing movie critics suck. I sneak in all the time. It's a load of **** that we have to be 18 or older to go see a movie that our parents will just let us see a week later.
