No offense but can some of you guys not be SO close minded. Roll EyesNOT ALL RAP TALKS ABOUT SEX, DRUGS, VIOLENCE AND MONEY. Come on people we have to understand that some rappers dont only talk about things like that.I HATE stereotypes.
The way I see it whoever likes that kind of music knows why they are listening to it and girls who listen to it probably like it or they are just setting themselves up.

Background
I don't think that your're over reacting one bit. Not all rap music (regular not christian) is degrading, but at least 15-20% of rap music isn't nagetive or degrading. Being an African-American female I find it even more degrading to our society. People almost view us(black people) like this:
  • we pimp
  • woman loved to be called "*****s" and/or "****s"
  • and that we only think about cars money and clothes
I understand that there are artits like Kanye West, Usher, and Alicia Keys, but I want to put a stop to the other 80-85%.

It's our fault it's falling. Some rapper makes a video with near naked women, rapping about how they should wear her out with sex, and you girls dance to it, and sing the lyrics out loud and play the CDs

That is so true. Everytime one of those songs comes out I just change the station, but they're everywhere, and that's because people keep requesting them. When I see people dancing to them or singing them like they were the best thing ever I wonder if they even stop to think about what they are singing or dancing to. I know of a couple of girls who crank up there radios and dance to this songs thinking that they are the coolest thing in the world, believing that somehow they are too for going along with them. Inside of me I'm like "*knock knock* is anybody there?!" But I guess there isn't anyone there after all. They are too busy trying to choreograph the moves that come out on the videos and learning the lyrics believing that doing as they do is the only way to be viewed as "hot" or "sexy." They don't realize that they are being portrayed as a piece of flesh that has no feelings, thoughts, pride, a brain and the capability of saying "no." Trully, trully sad.

LPFreak, I totally agree w/ you. These issues are also in other types of music. And no, not every artist in a genre is involved in this. It's all just very sad for the ones that are.....

My thing is why is it you are only talking about rap when some rock music talks about killing yourself slowly and what not. Also some of it is satanic. Not that I don't like rock. I totally love taking back sunday and other bands. But not all rap talks about sex have u heard of Jadakiss? or Kanye West? you probably haven't because JD talks about what ppl have to suffer and KW talks about Jesus. So dont be soo stereotypical.

It's kinda sad. Kids at my school go around going "wow you're pimping" if you do something "cool" or act in a certain way.

I agree. So many people like it, though. I just don't get it, I guess.
