its a song by pink. if you havent heard it i suggest you go listen to it! i love it and its so truthfull. here are the lyrics!~~~

Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why

Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye

Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you

Excellent deconstruction of this idiotic "song". Very observant and informative.

Sigh...

quote:
What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud

I'm sure he is proud, he was elected not once, but twice, by the American people to lead this country. Or did the author of this 'song forget that?

quote:
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why

Is the author of this song suggesting he never sleeps but only cries? If so I have scientific proof that say he is a liar. If you have ever seen the president speak the ladder part of this 'verse' is clearly answered in the affirmative.

quote:
Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell

The road to hell? Clearly the author of this 'song' is dumb and blind based on the questions he is asking.

quote:
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine

Chenney does hate his daughter. She evened worked on his campaign.

quote:
Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

You're right, I bet it is pretty easy to be elected President.

quote:
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you

He talked to Cindey Shehan

So I guess almost nothing in this song is truthful. Did Wierd Al write this songs to rip on all you hippies?

If she had been a political pundit, perhaps she would've used a blog. Or a message board. But being an artist, she used song.

quote:

How can liberals dominate "media microphones"? Someone else has to be the submissive. Smile

quote:
That the bashers need to knock it off before they lose anymore support. Oh wait, they've already lost most of it. My bad.

Really? Then how can they "dominate" media microphones? Gee whiz.

quote:
Political rethoric doesn't belong in music. First Ammendment or not, music is not a medium through which to spread hatred and protest.

Rhetoric. Why NOT use music? Let's face it: If President Bush could write a song to get his message across to dissenting Americans, he probably would.

Music is the medium to spread whatever message you'd like. It's powerful, and it works. I don't care what your message is. Whether you're Toby Keith and you're writing blatant propoganda like "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue (The Angry American)," "If I Was Jesus," or "The Taliban Song." Do I agree with any of that? Of course not. But I respect music as an art form, and our country's right to express ourselves too much to challenge any of his words.

As long as the lyrics don't directly spread violence (i.e. "go kill the president!" or "murder all the small chldren!" "rape bitches!") etc, use 'em to your fullest advantage.

caroline3746,

I DID read the lyrics for this "song" before I posted my reply. And my opinion is the same for this as it is for the 60 Minutes documents.

That the bashers need to knock it off before they lose anymore support. Oh wait, they've already lost most of it. My bad.

Political rethoric doesn't belong in music. First Ammendment or not, music is not a medium through which to spread hatred and protest.

Most of the punk-rock I used to listen to has fallen into that category, including The Alkaline Trio, which has been my favorite band for years. I'm sick of it.

As a final note, thefutureisours is correct. To expect perfection from our president is foolish.

I got another poem its called "I believe" for the spanish people its "Yo Believo" no for real its called
"If I was President":

If I was president,
I'd get elected on Friday,
assasinated on Saturday,
and buried on Sunday.

If I was president...
If I was president.

The original draft of The Lord of the Rings featured Chuck Norris instead of Frodo Baggins. It was only 5 pages long, as Chuck roundhouse-kicked Sauron's ass halfway through the first chapter.

that poem is rediculous.
I would like to see some respect for our president.

It may be impossible, but just because its impossible doesn't mean we shouldn't try.
It may not be all his fault, but he still has the most control and the most power. He can do the most about it. And before we bomb for peace and spend lots of money on bombs, we should fund our schools and feed our hungery.
And I would like to rid the world of blind patriotism and defending the President no matter what.

I first off want to say I respect President Bush highly...and I don't think you can blame all the problems in America on him. But I have a song similar to that. Its off a Hawk Nelson CD "Letter To the President". And the name of the song is "Letter To the President".

When we were younger we used to sit on my porch
And talk smack about girls and professional sports
There's a lot of things I wanted to say
But never gotta chance to find a way

(One) Take a good look at all of our high schools
This is the first reason that I want to write you
It must be tough when soceity is messed up
Gotta save money, please don't take it out on us

Do they even know?
Do they even know?

If I was brave I'd write a letter to the President
And have him pass it to the leaders of our Parliament
But for now I won't say nothing
From all the kids whp would stand in my residence
Who see this letter as a statement of our innocence
But for now I won't say nothing

Now that we're older a brand new story unfolds
About God and the laws that we've always been told
And there's a lot of things I wanted to say
But never got a chance to find a way

Same-sex marriage in the states where they don't care
Murder is wrong but the jail time's not fair
Not to mention date rape, felony, and car theft
Break it down and tell me what we got left

Do they even know?
Do they even know?

If I was brave I'd write a letter to the president
And have him pass it to the leaders of our Parliament
But for now I won't say nothing
From all the kids who would stand in my residence
Who see this letter as a statement of our innocence
As for now I'll start with something

Take a good look a Tommy, he's a track star
Good role model, has a chance to go real far
Then the school made a budget cut
Cut out the track team
Now instead, Tommy is a crackhead

Same-sex marriage in the states where they don't care
Murder is wrong but the jail time's not fair
Not to mention date rape, felony, and car theft
Break it down and tell me what they got left

If I was brave I'd write a letter to the President
And have him pass it to the leaders of our Parliament
But for now I won't say nothing
From all the kids who would stand in my residence
Who see this letter as a statement of our innocence
As for now I'll start with something

It has sorta the same meaning as pink's song..but it doesn't blame the President for all the problems. So...just thought you'd like to see this song.

WHAT!?

What possesed PINK to write this garbage? Give me a barf bag. I feel sick.

The President deserves much more than criticism from the white-in-the-face, whiny liberals who dominate the media microphones across the U.S.

He is a smart man who helped us recover after 9/11. And I can think of no one else in this world that I respect more than President Bush.

This is just another cheap shot at his presidency, in the exact same league as the 60 Minutes documents Dan Rather put on the air. I'm glad he got canned for that blatent attempt to wreck his presidency.

Here are my words to the President:

"Mr. Bush, thank you for being a great role model for my generation. Although I do not understand politics 100%, I stand behind you and the Republican party all the way."

That's what I believe.
