Eh, major label doesn't make a band suck. Bad Religion went over to Atlantic, though they did come back to Epitaph.

Heh, I see your point costar. I always just looked at it like this: They are a good band, so a good label is going to sign them. I just like their music.

Green Day used to be cool, but now they suck, it has nothing to do with them going mainstream but the internal contradiction provided by the song "American Idiot".

"One nation controlled by the media.
Information nation of hysteria.
It's going out to idiot America."

This is funny because the entire album is released by Warner Bothers who merged with AOL to make one of the biggest, most corporate media companies EVER.
Green Day sucks

Your not dumb dear. Alot of people didn't know that. I sometimes don't get into music for the words but for the rythm and beat. Smile

Yeah, that's when punk rock started developing, and that's political as hell (punk rock referring to the non-MTV pop polluted drivel). I've never been a huge Green Day fan so I don't know if their old stuff is political, I just know they were on Lookout Records in the 80's.

I agree with you guys.....yet again. They don't even care about the classic stuff. The 70s were big with political messages in music.

I really wanted to reply "who isn't" but sadly we all know the answer to that.

Oh hell yeah. I hate it when someone can listen to music that has some substance to it and have the message go in one ear and out the other cause they're so used to bubblegum pop.

Good point Finn, what about great music such as The Cure, The Ramones, and Pink Floyd? Plenty of great music and political messages there.

It really pisses me off when these mindless annoying teeny boppers who from their opinions by what pop stars say get all "Ooooh, I love Green Day! That song...I heard it on the ra-di-o...yay!" and had never heard of them before American Idiot. And entirely miss the political message in that album. And never noticed a band that has been around since 1988.

The only time I've heard 'American Idiot' was when I had to watch the video for World History.

I couldn't stand a bit of it.

It's not enough for all the cool self-mutilating teenagers to buy into the whole rebellion fad, some band had to get rich off public opinion.

I'll stick to my showtunes.

That probably isn't true, like I said a lot of what is in magazines is just lies and bull****. You shouldn't believe it maybe about one or two of the band members did that but all the members I realy don't think so.
