I don't think we should have an holiday for September 11th. It's going to be a bad remainder to the people who lost someone, saw someone get hurt badly or they got hurt bad themselves on that day. It would be really bad if once every year, they have to bring back those awful memories.
Do you know when September 11th came around this year, that on tv, almost every channel was talking or doing something about Septerber 11th? And do you know that the kids that lost someone on that day had to watch a channel that they didn't want to watch but they did it anyways because every other channel was talking about September 11th and all that made them do is remember about loses their daddy or mommy or just someone they cared about. Do you really want kids or just people to go through that every year? It's great that you want the heros to be remembered and all but it would be hard for many people. Well Bye Have a nice, wonderful day Signed Nobody of Importance

No, September 11th should not be a holiday. You people just want another day off from school. Yes, you say it will be a day to remember all those who died in that tragedy, but 9:1 chances none of you will be doing that. That's what you say now, but that's not what's going to happen. Yea, I know there are people who will view this as a day of remembrance, but be real, as time goes on, you wont even remember you're supposed to be doing that. I agree with Jookly and Flow, just because you died in that event, it doesn't make you a hero. But, hey, it's your life, your views, a hero is whoever you want it to be or what you characterize heroes as. *Star*

No way!!! Sept 11 shouldnt be a holiday. You just want another day off from school.
And i agree with flow, dying isnt heroic. If anything the fireman and policeman should have followed proper precautions instead of rushing to the top of a flaming building resulting in massive lose of life.

I think thats a gr8 idea!! we should have a holiday in honor and remeberence, of those firemen, policemen, and many others who risked their lifes or died in Sept 11.

Just because someone dies in a tragedy doesn't make them a hero. I'm not trying to make less of their deaths, but all they did was get on a plane or go to work.

Flow23: However, "THE HEROES OF SEPTEMBER 11TH"?!? Dying isn't heroic.
Excuse me, but there were many heroes on September 11th. Not to mention all the firemen and policement who saved lives, there was the FLight 93 plane where the 41 passengers took over the terrorists and saved the white house. they died as heroes.
And, i believe that September 11th does not need to become a national holiday for people to remember everyone who died. Everyone in the nation was struck or hurt on that day by seeing millions die, and people will remember sept. 11 forever.

I don't think it should become a national holiday. Though the thought of having people take the day to remember the tragedy and do something positive as a result is nice, it is unrealistic. And as to ChristianSoldier's remarks, I'm glad you have strong beliefs for your own sake, but I can't agree with you telling everyone else they are wrong and their beliefs are just false.

I don't hate Muslims or Jewish people, but the truth of the matter is that Islam, Christianity, and Judaism can't all be right, because they contradict each other so much. Jesus, the only true Lord and Savior said that He is the way, the truth, and the light... and I think we Christians need to get the word out to Muslims and Jews how they can be saved too, for their own good. Jesus said to love all, and we need to do that. Especially those who haven't been saved, like atheists, Jews, and Muslims. The last thing we should do is hate any of these groups, because then we're not letting Christ work in us, and we'll scare them away from the only thing that can save them from Hell. But whatever you do, don't pretend that Jesus isn't real when you're around them, because then they'll never learn and can never be saved. Lend them a helping hand and don't be afraid to tell them the truth. Because that's what Jesus would do if He were here. As for respecting other faiths, they simly aren't real, and we shouldn't say it's okay to spread lies, because Jesus is the reason we're here- we can't sugar-coat that message or ignore it. That's what it means to give our lives to God. We can respect the people of other faiths without respecting the false religions that they spread. But NEVER EVER would Jesus approve of hating them! God bless you. For more information about how you, your friends and family can come to know Jesus, and need answers to life's hardest problems, Click Here

Nation Holidays simply become a day where we don't get mail, and people "celebrate" or "remember" by staying at the beach all day. Following in the tradition of Pearl Harbor, I think that it would be best if it isn't a national holiday, but it WILL be a day that all of us will ALWAYS remember. And we won't remember it because of the bbqs.

It should not be a holiday. Nothing good happened that day, and its after effects are merely contributing to allow the government to enslave us through programs like TIPS, as the government is currently recruiting private citizens to spy on each other and report their findings to the government, go to citizencorps.gov and the TIPS sections if you dont belive me. This originally tragic event has just been manipulated by the government to milk more power from the people who are all to eager to have the police step on their heads in the name of freedom and safety. Who knows what this country will be like this september 11th, at this rate it might turn into even more of a fascist police state. The worst thing is that there is nothing that the educated minority can do about it, because all this has been brought about thanks to the fear of the ignorant masses. They fear for their own lives and their safety and in exchange give away their freedom, not realizing that without freedom, their safety is worth nothing, and that the governments ridiculous tactics are similar to another large country that agressively began a campaign against something in the name of safety and protection.

We were just talking about this in my summer school history class today.
I think whether we like it or not September 11th will become sort of like a holiday or national day of remebrance.
But maybe making it an "official" national holiday is not the right thing to do. But what do you think we should do instead?
And other than puppydawgk, is there anyone else who feels like it should be a national holiday or something?

Memorial day was to remember the people that died in war. That was tragic too. Should we not celebrate THAT anymore? This is the same thing.

Hey guys! This petition for the record is not to celbreate SSerptember 11th! ON the contrary! It is a memorial holiday in which we remember those who died.... not to celebrate their death, but to remember all those lives taken.
