WTF?!?!?!? women should be drafted too. they have a setup that makes sure that not both parents are drafted, only the one with a better physical record.

I'm a girl, I fence and work out a lot, yet I will tell you that I am weaker than any guy I know. If someone were to put me out on the warlines I would die in about 5 minutes. I am not a feminist and I will tell you that women are the weaker sex and they should be protected by men not fight with the men. Also, think of world war two, women helped maintain their families and the jobs usually held by men. Most men would not make good single full time parents, that's more of a womens job. Women are needed to help the country stay afloat when men go off to war, men are better at war, women better at taking care of things overall. I think that if a woman wants to risk her life then let her, but I'm not going to fight in a war when I know that being 5'4 and skinny I would be an easy target. They don't let people with physical disabilities go anyway, so why let ones who might get pregnant while there go? If you did and you didn't know it you could have a miscarriage in the middle east and just die where as guys can't even get pregnant.

Women go through enough in their lives, can we say cramps and childbirth? (although I have never experienced childbirth, something tells me it is more pain than I'd enjoy subjeting myself to...) Women ar ethe "fairer" sex and we o through more than guys can even dream of...DON'T UNDERMINE MY WORTH BY COMPARING ME TO YOU.

Women may not be drated base don the fact that women are the ones with kids. What would happen if both parents were to be drafted??? Also, the army will not let women work on the front lines anyway, and most of the frontline men are the drafted ones... GET A CLUE AND DON'T TALK ABOUT STUFF YOU HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT...AND ALSO, DO NOT MAKE ME SEEM AS THOUGH I AM LESS OF A PERSON BECAUSE I WAS BORN A WOMAN! I AM MORE OF A PERSON THAN YOU WILL EVER BE...

Obviously being of the female gender, and not only wanting to go to war but not supporting the war, I am just a tad bit biased. But the way I see it, women are already facing everyday challenges- glass ceilings of the sort- that inhibit them from doing the things men do. In war, women face many things men wouldnt have to: possible rape, pregnancy, other feminine occurances. Men dont have to worry about these things. You could say that men could be raped to, but by whom? Women are not very common on the front lines, especially when facing third-world countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan. Another reason why women should not be drafted is that women are not as physically prepared for war. As much as I hate to say this, men ARE stronger than women, at least in a general sense. It has been proven over and over again, and it is obvious in everyday life in sports and other physical activity. Does this mean women would be useless? No. But if they were put on the front lines, they would not be able to perform as men would. "To be fair to both men and women I think both should be drafted if the draft comes into play. The voting right was, at the beginning, lowered because the soldiers were ready to die for their country so they should be able to vote for where they fight. I know this included both men and women because otherwise there would have been outrage, but it’s not right- or fair to the men who are required to fight for their country. If they're not going to draft women, then women should have to wait until 21 to vote. I am a girl." This is the single most bogus thing I have ever heard in my life. The vote should NOT be determined according to your military service record. Our women AND teen voting rates are low enough, why blackmail those who DO care enough to vote into risking their lives? That is not what this country is about. And that would open it up for so many questions, loopholes, exclusions: -Should disabled/ineligible 18 to 21 year old men be allowed to vote, even though they cant serve? -If so, then disabled/ineligible women 18-21 be allowed to vote? -Should women 18-21 who serve voluntarily be allowed to vote? -What about domestic service people: fire fighters, coast guard, police officers: they dont have to serve in war, should their young men and women be allowed to vote? -If yes, then what about volunteer firefighters? There is no end to these. As I said before, voting is a right in THIS country, not a privelidge. "P.S Both genders should be regarded as equal and I agree with activistista. We weren't handed our rights- we fought for them. " Equality shouldnt be blind to scientific evidence. In response to Sanglewoods comment: "If they're not going to draft women, then women should have to wait until 21 to vote."
So, what you're saying is, because women don't have the right to be drafted, more of womens rights should be taken away by not allowing them to vote when men can?? I'm sorry that doesn't make sense. It's not by womens choice that women can't be drafted- although it is convienient. By having the same rights as men, we should accept the same responsibilites- however unreasonable they are. I'm sorry your feelings are hurt that women don't get the shaft by having to go fight unwillingly, but that doesn't mean our rights should be taken away.

So because fighting is hell for everyone only men should be forced to go through it? And don't give this stuff about how rape on women being tortured. There are just as many things that can be done to men as can be done wto women. You all wanted equal rights, so take them all. Drafting included. I do not support drafting at all bcause i believe no one should be forced to fight against their own will, but if there is a draft we should atleast go for equality. I don't wat to hear "because women are more vulnerable to tuortue" men are vulnerable too. What's your real reasons for noty wanting women drafted? NO! Women should be given equal chances, as well as men. The insurance cost should be equal to males and females as should the soldier position. PEACE OUT

Plic, I've said it before and I'll say it again and again: you are sexist sexist sexist. and you need to get over yourself and your gender and you need to get over your big head. You need to accept that men and women are equal and there ain't nuthin you can do about it. And plus, women fought for rights, didnt wait around for someone to hand it to them. Anyways when have men ever fought for rights? NEVER! because they are automatically given to them, now what do we call this? ALL TOGETHER NOW: SEXISM!

hey Plic, here's my take on the deal- sure, there are some women who dont want to serve the military or be in a draft. But there are men like that too! And just because someone doesnt pick up a gun and get out on the front lines doesnt mean they arent fighting for their country. The USA needs people at home as well as abroad- take it from a military brat who's been all over, everyone can make a difference. So just because my mother isnt dressed in camo camping in the desert doesnt mean shes waiting for someone to hand her freedom!
