All of us have probably been judged at one point or another based on race. Racial stereotypes are often taken into consideration by police or security personel while they're working, trying to keep the peace.

I noticed it before fourth grade, which is when I turned ten. I even remember knowing about it in first or second grade. So unless you have data to back this up, don't say it.

[QUOTE] Humans are inherently racist. It takes a lot to overcome racism.[QUOTE] Children don't even start to notice race until they are about ten. Basically , i'm calling this bullshit. You think everyone is born a racist? Correct me if I'm wrong (i very well might be) but doesn't racism come from fear and hate?(Not to mention ignorance) And if it does, those things are learned- not inherited.

What does it matter? By your logic, we should be fearful of anyone if people with the same skin color have committed some atrocity. The guy who blew up the Murrah Federal building in Oklahoma was named Timothy. Should I run away screaming in fear from anyone named Tim, then? What if their name is Tym? Flawed logic isn't logic.

true most serial killers are white middle aged men, but most terrorists are Muslim. Have you heard of the mall shooting? the guys name was Solyman, which is Soloman in Arabic. hint? quote: you do have a point though phant we humans do tend to pull a "birds of a a feather"
.......that is a Star Trek mentallity. Humans are inherently racist. It takes a lot to overcome racism. so your birds of a feather would only apply to people that trust each other.

This still doesn't make racial profiling right.
I'm guilty of racial profiling, everytime I walk down the street now and see a white middle-aged man I run the other way...you guys have made me paranoid with all this talk about serial killers!

........ , funny how this is the one post the person made and will possibly ever make. anyway: I agree, anyone can perform those acts. However, races and religions tend to bond more closely to one another. Thus it makes it worth the effort to watch specific groups while keeping an eye out for others. although, it is rather irritating being randomly searched (I look kinda middle-eastern). But you have to look at the last several airplane hijack / bombing attempts: all young middle-eastern Muslim men.

Just as the Vietnam war taught us to support and honor soldiers, we should learn to support and honor officers and see that unjust police actions are systemic rather than individual. We all make mistakes, we all have weaknesses. Condemnation never resolved a conflict. Violence always begets violence. "If you live your life through the eyes of compassion, you will be happy." Watching specific groups for signs of trouble leaves you blind to trouble from other groups. Sure you could frisk every woman wearing a burka, but what happens when you just wave through an American in a trench coat who goes on to blow up an airplane? Every race is capable of acts like that. It helps no one to watch specific people simply because other members of their race have caused trouble. As I believe I said earlier, nearly all serial criminals have been middle-aged white males. So, should we cross to the other side of the street every time we see a balding white guy coming towards us? No, of course not. Even you would agree to that.

perhaps...but a middle-eastern man wearing a trench coat trying to make his way through airport security is not at all comforting.

Most Islamic people you'd meet in the US, probably aren't trying to kill you, and I can only assume that they would have to find the idea of "look out, they're muslim!" rather offensive.

well, if you look at all the people that have been trying to bomb and hijack planes, most of them are Arabic muslims. That kinda sets off an alarm in my opinion. I don't believe in necessarily treating them different, just watch out for those specific groups at certain times.

But what kind of different treatment are we talking about? I can't think of any reason to treat Asians differently than Africans, or anything of the sort.

in my opinion its true. Humans are mammals...agreed? Dogs are mammals too. So, Is a Husky better suited to living in the arctic than say a chihuaha? Humans have breeds too. No human "breed" is superior to the other, just different. And when they combine socially, we produce a much stronger society that takes the best of all these "breeds." It's not racism, racism is hating a race...I believe that Racedriver is just recognizing a fact of evolution.
