I am so sick of everyone dogging our soldiers and everything, my mindset is simply this: If you don't like it get out of my country!!! I fought for your damn freedom, my father fought for your freedom and thousands of other men and women are doing the same as we speak, and what is your gratitude to them? NOTHING!!!!! not a thank you or anything! I am ashamed to call myself an American if it is people like you who I am protecting, I am NOT a baby killer, I did NOT beat iraqi prisoners, and I absolutely HATE everyone who says this war is a waste of time, or is about oil. For your information Kuwait has more oil than Iraq does and we've had control of Kuwait for 13 years!!!! I have been called a mindless patriot, better a patriot than a sellout!!! I hope to God you people are never in the government. The way you are now America would be doomed. I bet you all want to get rid of weapons and have peace and all that crap, well peace only comes through two ways, War and Negotiations and the negotiations have failed. We are the most hated country in te world, yet we are the most blessed and it really hurts me that people my own age hate and despise me and my friends that served overseas so that they could hate and despise us. You know when I came back from Iraq I was standing in an airport waiting to go home on leave. I was in my DCUs and you know what, lots of older people came up and hugged me and shook my hand and thanked me for fighting overseas, but not one younger person even said hello, in fact many of them went out of their way to avoid me. What has our generation come to that we no longer respect the military? The same military that freed us and gave us all our rights in the American revoultion. I may sound like I am preaching and maybe I am, but all I have to do is touch one person and it doesn't matter what anyone else says or thinks of me. I am still in the military, in fact my enlistment is going to be up in a year, but I am re-enlisting so I can continue serving my country. I apologize to all for the length of this post but I will NOT apologize if I have offended anyone because sometimes in order to open someone's eyes you have to offend them in some manner or other.

Just a little tip, nobody is going to like you if you complain about how no one does. you are setting yourself up.

and by the way, not everyone "hates" the men and women that have been in the military. My father was in Desert storm and my grandparents have all been in world war 2.

stop being so effing prejudice.

You don't need to say that Blue. The people who are intelligent on the site know you are sharp, the people who call you retarded and have to be retorted with standard proofs of intellectual accomplishment won't listen to you anyways. You have a nice brain, don't feel like you have to defend it's abilities any other way thaan using them.

When did I say "duh"? Actually, I'm not "slow", I'm rather intelligent. You should look at my school record and my SAT scores. It's going to be hilarious when you get kicked off this site. Usually, I'm open for a good debate, but you don't really debate, you just insult people.

You wanna show us where blue ever posted the word 'duh' to you? Clpo said it. and it was deserved, because at least he made a legitimate point beforehand.

Your sarcasm failed because it wasn't funny or intelligent. The foundation of sarcasm.

I wasn't being spiteful, I'm just saying that you argued that the world hates the US, and I could say the same thing of the UK.

It's all a matter of opinion. You have no jurisdiction to tell anyone that they cannot say their country is blessed.

All theories and the thoughts of the article writer.

As for your link to the UK thing, I never said nobody hates the UK, nor did i try to justify otherwise, the subject was America, not the UK. why did you not post a link to 'why do people hate spain?' it would have held just as much relevence.

All it says is the UK dislikes America (and then goes on to explain how even though that's true, they love our culture..so..that's crap.) Muslim and Arab nations hate America?! No ****ing way. Other than that, it really shows nothing. Do developing nations hate America? It did not mention 1 that did.

According to this, you see the world as the UK, and the Muslim/Arab nations. ..Okay.

quote:
Naive: America does not know that it is hated

We're actually quite aware of that, thank you. Trouble is? Most Americans don't care. It's not naivete, it's apathy.

quote:
Nagasaki & Hiroshima

Oh, please. Japan considers us their #1 friend, so are those feelings still prevelant? Perhaps, but none that I can see.

quote:
Biological Weapons
The Land Mine Treaty

Won't argue there. I think the policy on them is hypocritical, too.

quote:
Oil, Bush, Kyoto

Try and bring this up again when a Democrat is in office. (Clinton signed it.)

quote:
Heavy handed commercial aggression

It's marketing -- plain and simple. Sorry if that sucks, but that's how business works.

quote:
Patriotism & Self Righteousness

No ****.

quote:
World War 2: America is self glorifying?

This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever seen. This is, hands-down, the dumbest reason to hate America. Self-glorifying? ...Even if that was the case, show me any country in the UK (or Russia) fit to fight a Pacific front without us after defeating Germany. And without the, gasp, atomic bomb.

quote:
Obesity

Doesn't stop the world from eating at our fast-food restaurants in their country, does it? But I guess that's our "heavy-handed commercial aggression." Roll Eyes

quote:
Rape and violent crime statistics - the highest in the modern world?

First, show me rates that have been adjusted for population. Also, take into account the amount of countries in which rape is not considered a crime at all. Or, in countries in which rape isn't reported at all.

quote:
Foreign Aid: USA is stingiest of the 22 most developed countries
Support of obnoxious regimes
International discord and contempt of the UN
The Middle East:
Osama bin Laden
Israel

Blah blah blah. It's very easy to say "the world hates the US" when we have an administration in office that at least half the country wants out.

And, to quote your own webpage...
"The whole world does not hate the USA. The masses of the world in the most part see it as imperfect, often an oppressor, often a humanitarian country, often wrong, often right. The hatred of America does not match the hatred of the United Kingdom 100 years ago. We done some seriously inhumane and undefendable things back then. We're constantly apologizing about it.

The USA has done terrible things too. The key is in apologizing. Although the government seems far from making any concessions, showing any humility or even the faintest sign of modesty, the world understands that the American people are hurt, and the world is sympathetic and caring. People in most nations know that American people are no less human than anyone else, trying their best. Governments and massive organisations, however, are frequently the last to realize when such Human emotions need to be brought to the forefront.

The USA has a child as a government, a young country which is only recently learning that actions last forever, something that plagues older nation's embarrassed leaders. The dislike of America is not as great as people's dislike for terrorism, it's atrocities and oppression not as bad as Imperial England."

How exactly are you the most blessed country? that's the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard, the world doesnt just hate you, they pity you.

THAT is the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard? You should get out more.

You use "the world" rather liberally there. Before you start throwing around what you believe "the world" thinks, perhaps you should take a step back and, you know, think before them fingers hit the keyboard and you assume you know what "the world" thinks.

I don't think my use of the word was too liberal, I see very little support for the US in general, appart from inter-governmental cordiality. I think one of the main reasons people hate America is arrogance, this for example:

"When asked to pick one "main reason why those who attacked us and their supporters hate the United States," the reasons given most often were
"our democracy and freedom" (26%) and
"our support for Israel" (22%)
However, almost as many believe the main reason is
"our values and way of life" (20%), and
"our influence on the economy and lives of Middle Eastern countries" (17%).
Only 11% believe our economic and military power is the main reason.
"
http://www.harrisinteractive.com/harris_poll/latest.asp
(Vexen added the bullet points for clarity)

this speaks for itself, the arrogance showing through here.

heres some more practical reasons:

Misc. Different reasons
Naive: America does not know that it is hated
History of war:
Nagasaki & Hiroshima
Biological Weapons
The Land Mine Treaty
The Arms Trade
Oil, Bush, Kyoto
Short term strategies & long term suffering
Heavy handed commercial aggression
Patriotism & Self Righteousness
World War 2: America is self glorifying?
Obesity
UN criticism of the United States' Children's Rights
Rape and violent crime statistics - the highest in the modern world?
Foreign Aid: USA is stingiest of the 22 most developed countries
Support of obnoxious regimes
International discord and contempt of the UN
The Middle East:
Osama bin Laden
Israel

Good post, FML.

There's so many posts here that I wanted to mention...

quote:
Thats not an opinion to me...how the hell can you say that...DUH

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

THAT is "how you can say that." And saying "duh" only makes you look dumber, not anyone else.

And this "first amendment bull****" that you speak of, well, it covers accusations, offending comments, mean remarks, things considered 'rude and wrong' etc. So stop with the PC bull****.
