well isn't that priceless... ok noobie let me feed this to you straight. Lebanon has 128 parliment seats, half of those are the anti-syria groups and the other half is the Hezbollah and other related organizations that are pro-syria. While hezbollah might not make up an entire half of the government on their own (at 23 seats) with their partner factions they wield a lot of power. Also two of the ministers in the cabinet are also Hezbollah.

Now as far as the Hezbollah and their weapons are concerned the Lebanese parliment should have made them disarm after Israel left back in 2000. Hezbollah are considered Lebanons militia, seeing how israel effectively destroyed everything military in that country by yesterday afternoon, leaving only the Hezbollah to try and resist. The Lebanese people made it this way, and now they will suffer the consequences.

Hydrok, you claim to know alot for someone who thinks Hezbollah is half of the Lebanese government! What you should know is that the Lebanese government does not own nearly as much as half of Hezbollah's weapons.... So when they tell you that lebanon can't do anything about it, it's true!
We're just stuck between two forces. Lebanon is just the playground and is being destroyed because of other people's misconceptions...

And again the greater picture is missed, this isn't about Israel wanting to invade and attack other countries, they just want their soldiers back... they are going to keep attacking until they get them back. This was a poor political gambit by the Hezbollah, it's definatly not going to work to their advantage.

Since Hezballah is not just specific to Lebanon, perhaps this will give Israel an excuse to go after Iran and Syria...

well you only have your government to thank, I'm not stupid I know exactly why this is happening, Hebollah wants more Parliment seats and some of it's leaders are sitting in Israeli prisons. If israel were to exhange those prisoners back they would have sympathy from the public and could tilt the Parlimant into control of the Hezbollah. This whole thing was a polittical power play, and it's biting the Hebollah in the ass.

“Perhaps Israel is JUST going to give them a bloody nose and a warning? "
That’s not gonna happen, Hezballah is not gonna stand still while Israel destroy Lebanon, specialy that now they targeted the house of Nasrallah, this is turning out to be a bloody war! And even if it didn’t, how are we supposed to rebuild what has been destroyed? The taxes will go higher, poverty will increase… all that Harriri had worked hard on was gone to the drain... The airport, Beirut, he paid his blood to build them, and now it’s gone...All gone. Frown

Those guys all need to smoke a big joint and chill out. Mind you, what did anyone expect? Letting a violent militia take over the government.
Apparently they did a leaflet drop to warn people in that suburb they said was a stronghold. Surely that would have warned their targets aswell. Perhaps Isreal is just going to give them a bloody nose and a warning?

I live in Tripoli, not far from the explosions, and you’re right "All Lebanon had to do is return the prisoners. Same with the Palestinians", if it was up to me I would’ve returned them , but it’s not and we’re paying the price of someone else’s choice...

I love this claim where the Lebanese government has "nothing" to do with the attacks... half of the government is Hezbollah.

A lot rides on Egypt right now, they are going to be the primary peacekeepers in this one... they dont really get along with anyone, but they arn't targeted by anyone either.

Basically an overview of the last 18 hours, after the initial attack on Israel by the Hizbollah, Israel countered with a tank and a few men that took persuit... the tank was destroyed, which prompted more tanks to roll in, 3 Israeli tanks have been destroyed, and about 50 Hizbollah have been killed.

Israel attacked about 30 targets in two hours decimating the entire southern portion of Lebanon with missiles and artillery. Israel have fighters circling major cities including the capitol of Beirut. All major supply lines to the south have been destroyed. Telecommunications to the southern portion of Lebanon have been disrupted.

Lebanon is firing artillery back pretty much blind. Expect to see the capitol shut down in the next 24 hours. The Israeli cabinet went into session to decide the best coarse of action. I didn't get results of that by the end of the work day. Also the Egyptian foreign minister met with the Syrian president today to try and keep it de-escelated for the time being. However at the Arab leader conference which will happen ASAP, expect to hear more support for Lebanon primarily from Syria and Iran.

By the end of this week we should know if it's going to spill outside the boarders or not. The POTUS took a strong stance on Israel's side today, he's also meeting with another Israeli ally today as well. Russia, and most of the EU condemed the kidnapping, however they all pretty much told Israel to chill out for the time being. China is the only Security Council member that hasn't formally weighed in yet, but we might finally get to see security council action that is unanimous.

Furthermore the Leabanese government is claiming they have nothing to do with the kidnappings, and are lobbying the UN to put a stop to the attacks, the UN asked nicely and Israel said no. I think Israel has finally reached their breaking point, and it's been a long time coming. They are fully prepared now for all out war, they have formally called up all the reserves and are massing on the Lebanese boarder.

Video from airstrikes on bridges in Lebanon were painfully accurate. And I suspect Israel will make short work of the Syrian Air Defense System should Syria get involved.

Biggest threat to Israel is Iran's TBM program. They can shoot down scuds all day long with their technology. (our patriots)

But more to come as it's available!
