That sounds pretty good Amp. Jihad is basically anything a Muslim does to raise the name of God, the greater part of Jihad being the internal struggle against temptation, and the lesser part of Jihad being combat to protect, expand or better the Islamic state (or at least that's how it's been throughout history). Since there is no longer an Islamic state, that sort of violence goes into a lot of grey areas. I think the Muslims' collective energies could be better spent uniting and pooling resources, but that's just me.

Jihad as I've vome to understand it has two very different meanings. First and the one most of us know is the Islamic version of a crusade. A holy war mandated by God. The other definition I recall (Sphynx please correct me here) is an internal struggle between the muslim in question in God where the man or woman in question is seeking to live as purly as possible for God (again that's what I recall)

I've never seen it spelled that way before. It's usually spelled, "Jihad". It's literal translation is "Struggle". There are different forms of religious "Jihad". Although some Muslims it is a rallying cry for open war.
