What do you think about the soldiers who were lied to by recruiters about how long they would be there? What about people who joined in the "heat of the moment" after being lied to about 9/11? What about people who were told that active duty was unlikely, and who were enticed with promises of $$$ for college?

So you're trying to tell me that people join the army thinking "well, I'm in the army, there's no way I'll die." Then they're even more stupid than I originally thought. So my opinion is disgusting and ridiculous. This is America. I'm allowed to say what I want. If I want to say I think doctors are pieces of crap I'm allowed to say that, just because these idiots are willing to die for a pointless "cause" is no sweat of my arse. It was their choice to join up. They knew what could happen. Why should I respect someone just because of their job? DEATH-ITS PART OF THE JOB it isn't some great sacrifice. *rolls eyes* And like I said in my other post, a wasted life is simply a waste. Instead of slaughtering others and dying, these soldiers could be helping us find a cure for AIDS or cancer that will actually benefit mankind. That's the type of person I respect, someone who works to help all mankind, not destroy a country and kill civilians like a dumb a$$. To act like I "have" to support troops is unamerican in itself. People are entitled to their own opinions, so yellow how about instead of just saying my opinion is ridiculous or disgusting, you actually add something with some thought to this topic. ^.^ I love you all!

Of course they expect to, anyone who joins the military would know that there is always a possibility that they could be sent of to war. Also, it is not about wanting to die or not, it is about the men and women's willingness to die for their country. The war does not protect the freedom of our country, but the people willing to risk their life for our country are. I do not not agree with the war, but I do believe that the people of the military deserve to be supported for being dedicated to their country. Supporting the military does not mean supporting the war. The people of the military should be supported and respected no matter where they are, here at home or deployed, out to sea, etc. The military is not just the soldiers in the Middle East, it is also other groups that do more than go to war, like the Coast Guard, who go out in major storms to rescue people stranded at sea. Any person who willingly risks their life for the lives of others should be respected, honored, and supported; like firefighters, the police, etc.

So you're telling me that every who signs up for the army doesn't expect to be sent off to war. Wow they're even more stupid than I thought. Who would sign up for the military and think "well I'm never going to have to fight." You know what the job description is before you sign up. If you don't want to die than here is a simple solution: DON'T JOIN THE ARMY. Also how does the war protect my freedom? Did the Iraqi's invade our country and try to kill us? No. I'm sick of people not understanding that a 3rd world country doesn't threat a 1st world country. None of these people (Iraqi, Afghanistani) ever threatened our way of life. Yes, al qida attacked us but has 9/11 really change our standard of living? No. Unless the very fabric that holds America together is going to be destroyed we shouldn't have a need to fight. People don't seem to understand how much power we have. They think that some puney little country like Iraq will take away our power when in reality it's China we should worry about. GD people, think once in awhile. As for the troops, I don't care, they chose to give their lives to the country for a pointless cause, why should I respect an idiot? (sounds harsh, I know, but I just can't stand this love for people who slaughter others)

The troops did not start the war nor did they choose to be sent of to war. However, they did choose to become a part of one of the military branches, to defend our country and our freedom, including yours. Just because they joined the military does not mean they want to be sent of to war or that they condone it, all they are doing is their job. The military does a lot more then go off to war, but even so, they are making a huge sacrifice by going off to war, their LIVES for the rest of our country.
