I'm sure you guys have heard of the 19 year old POW, Jessica Lynch, who was rescued on April Fools Day from an Iraqi Hospital.
Rumor has it that she only joined the army to get money for college to be a teacher. Now she's lying in a hospital in Germany with at least one broken arm and leg. Are her dreams of being a teacher, shot?
What does this say about a country that has money to fight wars, but not fund education? Are teens from modest backgrounds being driven to fight in wars, just to get some knowledge?
NOISEmakers, please help me to understand.

That rumor is completly false!!! Not only is she in the Military, but her brother also is and her younger sister is joining in September despite what happend to her sister. Why? They feel a strong sense of duty and honour, and wanted to support their country.....

I find absolutely no correlation in there, between funding the war and funding education. Plenty of people join the military or ROTC or anything in order to have money for higher education...my brother signed up for 16 years to get put through law school. Many people do that. It's a personal decision, and does not reflect on the nation.
Anyway, she had joined because her older brothers had, and also because there were no job opportunities where she lived.
