I am a Korean, a proud South Korean. Yet, I'm also a proud American. Seeing both of my countries fighting each other truely hearts, and now I can't decide which side to take or just be nutual (which I am at the moment.)

I don't like war, period. I don't like others treating people poorly either. Can't America and Korea get along? Can't there be peace somewhere in the world?? America sometimes worries me in ways, and when we talk about wars, that's when I get real worried. I tend to get worried for our people who are off to war and fight for American's freedom, worried for the soldier's family and friends, and also, worried for America's allies. I am worried for ou allies because they judge on how we, Americans see and treats the rest of the world. They can talk to others countries and turn us down, even though some can't afford it in any cause.

I'd say no to war, and bring peace through our world. We tend to think of war more than peace, for we have been in wars for over 200 years if not more. Wars are evil, and unless you wants other countries to think that your leader is evil like Mr. Ben Laden, then protest for peace. Please.

I had posted on other boards a couple times about Korea, the question seems to always come up, why Iraq and NOT North Korea. Below I posted some exerpts of the stories, I was lucky enough to hear from someone living in South Korea, the last quote is from them. I'd like to hear from more people in Korea if they are out there....and from anyone else who has an opinion

quote:

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan may boost the number of missile-detecting destroyers deployed near North Korea from one
to three amid jitters over a possible ballistic missile launch by Pyongyang, Kyodo News Agency said.

The agency said this would raise the state of alert against communist North Korea to one of its highest
levels ever.

Quoting government officials, the article said the plan might involve withdrawing the high-tech Aegis
destroyer currently in the Indian Ocean to back up Washington-led action in Afghanistan and replacing it with another ship.

quote:

SEOUL/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States and South Korea vowed to seek a diplomatic solution
to the North Korean nuclear crisis as U.S. Stealth fighters and an aircraft carrier assembled in the South for annual exercises.

In a telephone call to South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun, President Bush repeated his call for
multilateral talks to end the standoff over the North's suspected nuclear weapons program.

North Korea wants direct talks with the United States. At the United Nations, China seems to be backing its East Asian communist neighbor's stance while diplomats say Russia, also influential in Pyongyang, is sitting on the fence.

quote:
Well, I am living in South Korea right now and let me tell you, no one here seems to be one bit worried about the North. Seems like they think that the threat of the '50's is gone. This is mostly the young people. I saw Noh's inaguration and it was really tense. The new president is really bent in reforming the government, even naming the first woman chief prosecutor. I think that the US will have their hands full in a couple of months after the reshufling is done.
