It seems that many are very confused about why our country went to war.....

The President's #1 responsibility is NATIONAL DEFENSE. When our nation was attacked on 9/11, our borders were threatened. When Sadam Hussien refused to let us check to see if they possesed nuclear weapons, the safety of our citizens was threatened.

Our nation took the correct action in declaring war. Better safe than sorry by taking action rather than waiting to be attacked again.

Ok so here is a question, what two nations are the most responsible for the situation in the middle east?

The two really have nothing in common.

After 9/11, we declared our "War on Terrorism" which mostly concentrated on al Quaeda and some of the Stan's.

Then about a year and a half later (March 2003 I believe...) for reasons that are still debated, we began the "War in Iraq" under the pretense of Hussein possessing WMD's. Frankly, I think we've always wanted to spread democracy in the middle east, and the administration played off our residual fear from 9/11 in order to glean support...

Regardless of why we really went to war in Iraq, it was not a direct result of 9/11...that is why they are two different wars, because they are two different concepts.

Pop Quiz:

What does Iraq have to do with 9/11?

WTC-World Trade Center. Notice the term "World" in there. There weren't only Americans in that building.

And then there have been terrorist attacks in London (my friend's dad barely missed the train bomb.) and Madrid.

And not to mention millions of other terrorist cells for other things that we don't even focus on.

I have mixed feelings about the Long War (Iraq War) and I'm not going to bother with the pros and cons, but the War on Terror was without a doubt called for, by many nations, including the U.S. We weren't the only ones affected by the attacks on 9/11.

Wow there is a over simplified and very incorrect statement if I ever saw one.
