Wait, I am confused, is this post a joke? Asking that in all honesty here.

This is what is wrong with modern evangelism. People, Jesus will not drastically alter your relationships, your finances, your job, etc. God helps those who help themselves.

Imagine two people on a plane. One is handed a parachute and told that it will improve his flight. He tries it on to see if it will work. He can't really sit up straight and the parachute kind of digs into his back. But he keeps it on, thinking that it will improve his flight. After awhile the other passengers begin to mock him and he cannot do the things he used to do. After awhile he takes off the parachute and throws it on the ground. His flight has not improved, but he has been uncomfortable and humiliated. Justifiably, he believes that he has been told an outright lie.

The second passenger is told to put on the parachute because any moment now, he will have to jump out of the plane at 25,000 feet. He gratefully accepts the parachute and wears it despite the uncomfortableness and the mocking from fellow passengers. He's wearing it not to improve his flight, but to save him from the jump to come.

Fellow evangelicals, telling people to accept Jesus because it will improve their life will not work. We must tell them of Judgement Day and how the only way to survive being cast into the Lake of Fire is to accept Jesus.

You new people don't get it do you? You may have 50-300 posts and not consider yourself a newbie, but from your attitudes you are. Joey says the things he does in order to **** people off. Get over it. He's a bigot, but he says what he does to make people mad. It amuses him. It's a form of entertainment. I'm agnostic, I'm not big on the idea of God and I much prefer the theory of Evolution. So what? Not everyone has to believe in God, nor does everyone have to worship some form of Christianity. I've tried faith, I grew up between two different religions. God just doesn't do it for me and there's nothing or no one a non-believer hates more than someone shoving the bible in their face.

Why is it that that is the only explanation for things with you Christians? If someone dies, if someone good dies, someone who was helping the world and the world is a little worse off now that that person is gone, you say God obviously had a bigger plan for them. And I agree with yog, finding a religion MIGHT help, but it needs to be an accepting one, not one that judges and contradicts itself.

Hey Joey thats rely awsome you said that! I cut sometimes and that made me feel better becasue I love God too, and I'm hopping wean I go to an upcomming retreat he will help me stop cutting my self I don't cit very much I only cut my legs and I think God has helped me thourgh it and relise I'm something special, and I can't do that to my self any more thanx Joey for those words belive it or not they actulie helped me Thanx-Heather Castor

it's not about the religion. It's about finding another way to deal with things instead of cutting.

First of all not everyone has your beliefs and cutting for me is like an addiction we dont do it because we need god/dess or "jesus" some of us do it b/c we have true horrors some you will never understand unless you go through it...for me I loss my son in the hands of a murderer...I loved him for 6 months of my pregnancy and 11 months of his life then one day hes taken away from me...its a parents worst nightmare

What you wrote made me laugh so hard. Good job, Dauben. People need themselves, not some book. Jesus can't solve everything, if it solves anything at all. I know Christians who have commited suicide, cut themselves and have/had an eating disorder. Jesus doesn't 'shield' anything. And I really hope what you said is a joke. If it's not, you're so ignorant, it's really quite sad.

Um, I go to s 'shrink,' and I can't even describe how much she has helped me. Those 'shrinks' help many people. Have you ever gone to one? I doubt it. Those 'shrinks' have helped me WAY MORE than 'Jesus' has.

I really am happy for you because I have some friends who used to be cutters and it took them the longest time to get out of that... it made me sad.. until they stopped of course... then I was happy for them ) Once again, good for you!
