I have hair exactly like you but last week I cut about 11 inches off and donated it. When my hair is short, it is much easier to handle and you can get it straight. My hair stylist also gave me a great conditioner that really helps but you can only get it in a salon.

I usually just use conditioner on my hair.. Try some shampoo with conditioner already mixed in one bottle or maybe you could shampoo first then apply some conditoner after rinsing off the shampoo.. I have tried that and its the method i use to smoothen my hair and it does look smooth and easy to comb after each day. Big Grin

If you have curly hair, which im guessing you do since u want straight hair. the first thing is to get rid of the dry hair, dont wash your hair everyday only wash it every other day. If you have straight hair you need to wash it everyday to keep it shiny and straight. but after u wash your hair (if its curly) do not every blow dry your hair no matter what. you can use moose (sp?) to try to straighten ur hair, but it doesnt always work if you have really curly hair. use both shamppo and conditioner. but i use pantene pro-v two in one. i know people dont think that it works as well cause its two in one but it is the best shampoo/conditioner i have found out there. good luck, i hope i was some help.

When my dreads get a little to dry because I use harsh shampoos and no conditioner I go and buy an aloe leaf or aloe in a bottle (make sure its pretty pure) and grind the leaf up into a goop and massage it into my wet hair. Then I wash it out after a few minutes. It works charms and is all natural.

Wet your hair and comb in some conditioner. Leave it in for a half an hour. Then, wash is out and shampoo and wash you hair as usual. Very silky. Wink

Deep condition your hair, makes it much softer. I, personally, find Dove shampoos and conditioners work the best. As for straight, I have no idea. My hair does what it wants.

Haha. This sounds like me...
Buy:
A blow drier
Straightening CERAMIC irons (those do not damage hair as bad as iron ones.)
A paddle brush

That is what I use; I have a small, skinny iron for my bangs, and a big, wide one for the rest of my hair.

I put in some straightening stuff in my hair (when it's wet), blow dry and put some syrup stuff on and straighten my hair. I would only do this maybe 3 times a week, if you don't want damaged hair. But, I would ask your hair cutter.
