And sometimes our civics teacher jus likes to give topics to debate about. well..he said, "do you think it would effect a canadate running for office if they said they were gay/lesbian/ or anything of that sort? i would like to ask you the same question. What do you think?

Joey who are you to judge someone else's faith? You want to play the 'you're not really a Christian, because....' game, I've got a comeback for you. You're judging her. Aren't supposed to judge ANYONE.

joey, people are different. every single one of them. you can be a christian no matter what your opinions are about issues. what a rigid system you live by. im sorry you have to live with yoursef. just so you know, im not going to look back on this thread, so any argument you continue/start, i wont hear it or listen.

Sometime in the future, maybe. But present day America? I think not. And it would DEFINITELY have an effect.

I personally don't have a problem with it, but it'll never happen. People are just jack@sses to people like that.

I am going to say that, yes, that if a candidate did reveal that he was gay or bisexual, it would have an effect because people today are so narrow-minded and dont really at all understand bisexuality or homosexuality.
And, I do believe we will see a homosexual/bisexual president or person running for office...once society can learn to open up their minds more (which is once they learn about it).

You wanna know why Dean will never be elected?
Because he's the first governor to sign a law approving gay marriages, and state-recognized gay marriages at that.
Remember, many people are moderate, which pretty much means they're wishy-washy on a lot of issues.
But no president that stands on a platform of legalizing gay marriages will ever be elected president.
If that does happen, Christians will have already been taken away.

I don't think it would ever happen... not in today's society, anyway. Too many people view homosexuality in a negative light for a homosexual politician to realistically stand a chance at getting elected.
Plus, you can safely assume that all the conservative commentators nationwide would ***** and moan endlessly through the entire election about the advancement of the "homosexual agenda", the dissolution of traditional morality, etc.
