Confused
what is it with america's over 21 thingy?? i come from newcastle in England where the age for alcohol consumption is 18, however the law is very relaxed about it and on a friday/ saturday night you can see most 16/17 year olds dancing the night away in one of the 50 nightclubs Newcastle city centre has to offer.

However we have a very VERY strict drunk and disorderly policy which means if a person is caught being antisocial under the influence of alcohol then they are cautioned and arrested.
luckly we have a very low rate of drunken disorderly teens (in-fact most people arrested are 40 sumthing mums of 6!)
i just dont understand how you guys can get married, leave school, drive a car but not be trusted to consume alcohol!!! its crazy!

The 21 law in america is quite easily circumvented by using a fake ID, or knowing the bartender and owners of any local pub. I've known many of my 18y/o peers to get into clubs quite easily using the IDs, seeing as none of the bouncers check very closely.

The age laws in america really do not make any sense at all. In many states you can get married at 16, or younger, and have a baby on the way but still not be allowed into a rated R movie. You can go to war and kill or be killed at the age of 18, but you can't drink alcohol. It makes no sense to me. Not that anyone really follows the drinking laws really. I mean, most teens that want to drink to intoxication, will..even though they are underage...Some things need to be changed.

the law is the way it is in America because, if the drinking age was lowered to 16. Almost every teenager accross the country would be getting waisted and mabey try to drive home and wrap thier car around a tree.

Not true, as a teen myself....my parents let me drink a little bit and I've realised it's no big deal. Many teens get wasted simply because the law and their parents say "no". they do it just to be rebellious because it's "Cool"

That's a great question. Actually I think that America is quite idiotic. Yes our drinking age is higher but......many people over the age of 21 die from alcohol poisoning, OD with pills or something or they drive and get killed. Then again America is not strict at all. I used to drink in front of cops at the movie theater all the time and I would be trashed and they wouldnt say a single thiing. They would just sit there and do nothing. America is very lineant whereas I think England allows the bending of rules only to surpress the fact of people hiding it. Instead they get to try some and they get to be happy at the same time that way they won't go out and get drunk everynight when they do get to that legal age.

All in all America is overrun by idiots who don't think before they set down the laws and limitations. They only do what pleases themselves.

Everyone in England is an alcoholic, so it's no surprise that America is the better country.
