Please, will someone let me know that I'm not the only one how is terrified and saddened everyday but the thought that one child dies every minute from AIDS. Actually, if a 747 Jet crashed once every hour every day all year long, that's the rate that people are dying of AIDS. I wish I could help but I couldn't really donate money and I think I'm too young to go and volunteer anywhere. The only thing I know I can do is let people know what I know. I am scared and frustrated by the myths that circulate about HIV and AIDS. It's is NOT contagious via anything other than sexual intercourse of the sharing of blood. Skin contact would not spread it nor would kissing or spitting or breathing. People who think that a person with AIDS should be isolated or ridiculed is ignorant and uninformed. Also, another rumor I hope I can help destroy, AIDS does not ONLY affect homosexuals, this is one of the saddest and cruelest false rumors in the world and I wish I could so something to stop it.

I agree with EVERYTHING you just said! And I also wish that in school they would put all the false rumors to rest when it comes to AIDS and STDS. Is it me, or in Health (or whatever class you learn about these diseases) it's just skimmed over as if we already know the facts and there is nothing more to be done about it? I feel that we should be taught how many people are affected each year and different ways that we can help. (And about the homosexual rumor...that one gets me mad the most. I don't think some people even know that HIV is transferred to children on a regular basis when the mother passes it down during child birth).
