I was just wondering how all of you define maturity. Is it okay to joke around a lot? Is maturity knowing your priorities? Or just acting like you are thrity?

I think iluvjp has the right idea... quote: Maturity is being responsible and acting grown up when necessary. You don't always have to be mature; you can have good, clean fun.
Maturity is being able to see when something is going a little beyond the limit, like teasing or sumthing, and seeing that it needs to be stopped and try and stop it. To my mother, maturity is sitting at home reading thick boring books and outlining them, and ignoring people. Lots of love, Lynne

hmm, when I was younger older kids/adults would always tell me I was mature, I guess I could relate to them somehow. However I don't find myself very mature, I have a who cares attitude and I love to just joke about everything. I guess I am mature...but I'd rather not be

I am the most maturest person in the world. I can't help I act like an adult its just who I am and I can't help the kids my age don't like me because I'm mature and care about politics and about the world I live in... Whats wrong with that???

My definition of maturity is this: If you did something mature, you will not regret it later. If you did something, and it was immature, you will regret it later and ask yourself why you ever did that. Although it is hard to label somebody as "mature" or "immature" because it's in their own opinion, you cannot decide if they regret something. That is why i HATE when i do something, and my parents call it immature. Who are they to say?

In my opinion, maturity is when you know when appropriate times to make jokes are. Mature people are also the ones who don't put down others, are responsible, and are able to think of things in a proactive way. For instance, everyone thinks i am a "mature young lady" (gag me!) but you know, I hang out with friends and we do weird stuff. I recently was laughing through an ENTIRE LUNCH just because I had a cold and my voice was squeaky. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH A SENSE OF HUMOR as long as it is appropriate and at a appropriate time. (like not during a test or at church...)

there's different sides to it. i joke around alot, cuss and act kinda wild, then there's the physical attributes. when it comes to dirty things i'm more mature than most of my peers. i think the most important part is understanding and openmindedness, i def think i have that. i strongly beleive that and it's interesting to see the look on a 40 year old bigot's face when i tell her to grow up.

Maturity isn't never joking around, but it's when you know when to stop. You know your own limits and have good judgment on what you should or shouldn't do. Basically, a mature person would know how to handle themselves in the real world. Peace Cb526

well maturity varies with everyone people who are mature in my life read and write and smoke cigars ( YEA RIGHT ) I grew up with that..
my views are that maturity can be found if you are having a deep conversation about something important to you or something you like if that person answers in a respectful way than that to me is how you find out who is and who isn't they don't have to agree with you but only give a logical answer not something totally out of "sync"
thanks for asking
