i couldn't agree more. Stem cell research is so new i'm not sure where i stand. I mean there are ways to go about this without hurting other people but there it doesn't seem like a very natural way to go about things, as Takinastand says. But this could be the cure to so many diseases that are inflicting young kids teenagers and even adults. As for abortion i think it's a completely personal choice but one that takes a lot of thought. A friend of mine had an abortion because her family thought "it was best for her" in the end she regrets it and would have rather put the child up for adoption. Adoption seems like a healthier choice to me. The child grows up in a loving home (parents are scanned before being given a child) and the child will grow up knowing they had two sets of parents who loved them enuf to give birth and then let them grow in a healthy home
i am pro choice..i myself would never consider having an abortion, but i think it is the person's choice... becuase what if you were rapped.... do you really think it is fare to be forced to have a baby? and what about 11 and 12 year old little girls who get rapped..what happens if they become pregnant? they are just babies themselves!!! and as sad and sick as it is, 11 and 12 year old little girls do get rapped. im not quite sure how i feel about stemcell research though... i mean this world is changing so rapidly, what if there is another way to make a medical brake through, then to take an unborn child and study them. it just doesnt seem like a very natural way to go about things..but on the the other hand, this world is changing fastly, and this might be what we need to cure aids, or find better cures for cancer!! so there are up's and down's to this..jsut like everything in this world... so im kind of on both sides as of now... i dont know.. im still learning about it, before i make my final decision on how i feel about it..
Well, mywhole family is very religious (Catholic) and so schools and our schurch tell us to be pro-life and all that. But my only concern about not allowing abortions is that what happens if the person who is pregnant was raped or has HIV? If she was raped, she should not have to go through with the pain of having a baby or even the whole getiing pregnant and big thing. Usualy, teens who are pregnant become ostrasized from society and they are sometimes even forced to drop out of school durring their pregnancy. I just think that if something happens that is completely not your fault like a rape and then you are pregnant and you areout of school, you lose your childhood. I mean, after giving birth, people are gonna know that you were the girl who was pregnant and who knows what rumors will spread? you can never take back something like that. And also, if you are raped and get HIV from the person and you get a baby, i think taht that is way too much for one person. Plus, your baby will be born will a death sentence. It is unfair to give a child a chance at life, only to be taken away so quickly, dont you think? And they will grow up weaker and more sickly than other kids their age. So while i am not exactly for abortion, i think that those are two situations where abortion might be the safest and fairest solution. Just one little thing on cloning: i read that scientists are cloning pigs and some other animals whose organs are relatively the same size as humans' for people needing transplants. How can you deny those people the right to live like that when there is a solution, just because you think that God did not intend for us all to be the same and all that? If you were dying from kidney failure or heart failure or knew someone you loved who was, couldn't you put your personal ethics aside and help them live or help yourself live?! Please, I want some responses. Thanx, Lu
I am pro choice because I would rather these children not be born then have their parents beat them because they weren't wanted, or abandon them in a dumpster somewhere after they are born and they die painfully. Some parents wouldn't care if they put their child up for adoption, and their child would feel unwanted and unloved and grow up to have an unsucceesful life where they become hooked on drugs or they make worse mistakes then their birth parents. Or lets say their parents keep them, but their parents are druggies or live in a bad neighborhood, and don't care how late their child is out. These children may become the top most wanted, or they may be the biggest rap star out there, but these children aren't going to find the cure for cancer if they grow up with parents that don't care at all. Now their may be exceptions and these are just examples i am using, they're are not what every child that has been or will be aborted would have turned out to be, but definitly what some of them would have and did grow up with and turn out to be.
First of all I think that Bush is one Dum B*** trying to live up to his father's name and it worries me having him in charge of our country. I am ProChoice, while personally I would try to avoid the need for an abortion at all costs, there are some people who feel it is their only choice in their situation. I am not really against it though because most abortions are done early in the pregnancy when it is not a baby but a fetus which has the potential to become a baby, all you are doing is denying it that potential just as you are when you use a spermicide or really any other birth control method, denying the whatever the potential. I think that both stem cell reserch and cloning is great, the more we know the faster we can advance. Although i don't see much point in human cloning, I can see how it might be useful in growing tissue and such. One last thing, JesusFreak I believe said something about stemcells in jars, and I can assure you that they would not be kept in jars on a shelf. but I understand that you must be very passionate about this and probably didn't think about what you were saying.

I just wanted to add my two cents about abortion and be the next to say it, but ITS COMPLETELY WRONG And don't compare a woman's choice to education with killing a baby, because with education you are not deciding whether a life lives or dies. It's an awful predicament if let's say a woman was raped and became pregnant but that's life sometimes as cruel as that may sound, and you will have to deal with it. Don't force your unborn baby to deal with it by killing it. The rape that afflicted you should not afflict the poor soul inside of you who had no choice over the circumstances, it's almost like passing along your troubles. Something bad happened to you so let's makes something bad happen to someone else, an innocent baby? If you are unprepared for the responsibilites of motherhood, give up the baby for adoption, and let it live! I'm adopted myself and truly grateful that I wasn't aborted.
Oi! i never thought it was going to be this contrivereal(sp?) I agree that abortion IS morally wrong and maybe they r playing God doing the stem cell thing too but would u rather have the babies just thrown in the trash? ABORTION IS WRONG!! And i would do nething in my power to stop it but i just think that maybe if they use the cells to help someone else out that babies life wont be a total waste! Now u may totaly disagree with me and thats ur opinon but this is what i think.
k this topic is like bursting with ideas and opinions. first of all: abortion-no no cloning-no no stem cells-??????? 10-20 years ago gays and lesbians were a no no and yet nowadays, in places we have gay pride parades, so what about abortion and cloning?? is an abortion parade gonna happen?? i know its pretty far-fetched, but anything could happen. so i think its gonna b hard to c the future. also on stem cells being used to help save peoples lives..... i guess i could say im against it. i know im prolly p*ssing everyone off, but ppl here are saying abortion is bad b/c your killing life and playing god. but with stem cells from dead babies (thats rite, babies, not embryos) they have to first harvest the cell, THEN use it for medical purposes. now tell me if u are re-living a dead baby is that not the opposite of abortion and playing god once again??? i have no idea right now and im totally confused and in desperate need to watch american pie 2 (sorry this stuff should b written in my diary) so have a good summer and btw bush said that all stem cell research is stopped but he signed that all already HARVESTED cells continue with research. payce!!!!
There shouldnt even be an abortion choice. Your only choice in life should be whether or not to sleep with that man, not to abort your child. Geesh you could be having the child who could solve cancer and you want to abort it. It is morally and ethically wrong. I preached on abortion about a month ago. If you want biblical answers that it is wrong email me. Bush should have never signed the paper to do stem research. They also are keeping your embryos in a jar on the shelf to use later for research. Hmm i really want my child to sit on a shelf in a jar as an embryo. Hey people remember you are also committing murder. Your a murder if you abort your child. I feel it is really wrong and I am fighting to stop it. everyone who agrees with me check out www.petitionforlife.com or if that doesnt work email me with your address and you can sign the petition.
I just had a nephew born and I couldn't imagine my sis. getting an abortion with him, but I am still pro choice. You are all aganist the laws in Afgahnastan where women have no choice for education, but you aren't aganist making laws so women can't have a choice in something more sacred then education....life? That seems a little wierd to me. I also cannot imagine clonning, and right now we really don't need to because the earth is already overpopulated, but shouldn't we have the scientific fact of how to clone in case someday far into the future we need it?
Hey, i was all for stem cell research and development, but our president is not. I htink that we should use every opportunity that we can to help with terminal illnesses, and if undeveloped babies can, i think it's much better than those procedures like taking bone marrow that's supposed to be really painful on live people.
Human cloning creeps me out, so it encourages me that the UN is trying to pass a world-wide ban on all experimenting with human cloning. A bill to end all human cloning has been passed in the US by the House, but hasn't gone past the Senate yet. BUT it doesn't seem to have gone over so well and despite many objections, just as many nations are going on with experimentation as those who have passed laws. For more info on that and stem cell 411 go 2 www.cnn.com
I am Pro-Choice. A lot of people may think that if you are not Pro-Life then it means that you are all for abortion, but that's not it. Choice means people have the right to decide, and even if i think someone may have made the wrong decision- they still have the right to make it. We can't go around deciding things for people. It IS sad, and it's not the baby's fault. But an abortion case could be anything from when a young teenage girl and her boyfriend aren't safe or the condum breaks to where you are raped and you don't know who the father is but u know he's a scary criminal! Maybe you are of age to have children but u just don't want to. It's still YOUR CHOICE.
I think you are right! Im still unsure of the stem cell stuff, but i think youre right! I am against abortion and totally against cloning! If God wanted there to be exact copies of humans, and all animals, he would have made them that way. I guess these things are just challenges that he has put before us, to see what we would do.
YES I BELIEVE YOUR RIGHT IN ALL THAT U HAVE SAID. THE ONLY OTHER THING U MAY WANT TO RESEARCH IS THAT NOT ONLY ARE THEY GOING TO TRY AND USE STEM CELLS FOR CURING AND GROWING NEW AND HEALTHY CELLS. BUT THEY ARE TRYING TO USE THE STEM CELL RESEARCH TO ALSO DEVELOP A WAY OF CLONING HUMANS. AND THOUGH I AM AGAINST ABORTION STRONGLY. I AM STILL NOT SURE IF IM AGAINST STEM CELL RESEARCH. ALWAYS EZ
