Planned Parenthood is first, a wonderful institution for educating teenagers about sex, and offering the pill and condoms so that they can practice this wonderful experience safely, or at least safer. Old people I got news for you, teenagers are going to have sex, and don’t lie because most of you all had pre-marital sex as well. So your kids are going to have sex, would you rather they visited a clinic where they can get free protection, STD testing, and literature on safe sex? Or should they go ahead and impregnate some random girl and get the clap, take your pick. You’re not going to stop your kids from having sex, that’s a choice they make, not you.
Do I agree with the recent case where girls under 18 have to notify their parents that they are getting an abortion? Yes. Parents should be kept in the know, is this reasonable, sure it is. Problem lies that parents that do not educate their own children about sex are setting themselves up for disappointment. If you tell your child that sex is bad and don’t have it, and they turn up pregnant, why would they want to tell you.
But there is a solution to this problem, allow outside organizations such as Planned Parenthood to do their work without facing a mob of arsonists. (Who are fundamentalist Christians go figure). But people are outraged that the court will not deny the ability for organizations such as Planned Parenthood to give out the educational material that they do. This is a wonderful ruling because if organizations didn’t do it, what makes you think the parents are. Knowledge is power, and those that lack it are doomed to failure.
