RIIIIIING. Locker break, Sarah had managed to remember where her locker was, where her classes were, and what her last name was. Somehow.
It was a week into the school year, and she had avoided freshman breakdown, so far so good.
Her friend Dylan had convinced her to tag along to cheerleading tryouts. Dyl was amazingly athletic and was hoping for the spot that opened up over the summer, but she was nevous so Sarah agreed to come and watch. She also agreed to help her warm up.
As the girls were stretching, a group of sophmores walked by and stopped in front of Sarah.
"I hope you arent trying out, cheerleaders cant be fat. "Sorry"
As they walked away laughing, Sarah tried to lok tough, but that night, she looked in the mirror for hours and decided that she really was fat.

I really liked the story, and I am sorry that your friend died, and earth goddess, you could be a little more accepting. How would you feel if one of your friends died and you came to us, people that you don't even know, and confided in us, and we reacted in that way?

Is being skinny the only way to be pretty? I dont think so. I think that those teens who said that only skinny girls are beautiful are wrong. To be honest, i dont even find being skinny or being model-like pretty. Sure, they are glamorous, nice to look at and their clothes all seem to be made just for them. But hello? We are individuals remember? Not some toy in a shop with a lot of clones.
For me, it doesnt matter how you look like, curvy, fat, skinny, short or tall because in the end we are still going to be treated by our parents, by our teachers, by professionals as an individual not by our beauty or looks. Its the personality that is beautiful that shines through a person who deserves to be called beautiful.
I also have to point out that i strongly disagree people especially teens to be influenced by the so called philosophy society is telling us that only model-like bodies are in and curvy ones are out. I am curvy and i am proud of it. Besides, being curvy has lots of assets too. It shows off well in a dress or gown. Many would think they would go on a diet or exercise to make them skinny but i think they are just wasting their time. Yes, one may exercise or eat nutricious foods but not for the reason that they have been pressured by the "the pretty girls club only" kind of people but by the reason that they want to be fit and healthy.
People may think the only way to be beautiful is through beautiful bodies but for me, life is beautiful if one has a good personality.

anorexia and being fat are the same thing in my eyes. who cares if youre fat anyways? people always say that im ugly in my face and i still dont care. rather fip them off. its nice to be ugly, there arent enough people to **** you off.

i think everyone should stop fighting about a story. please. but anyways, eating disorders, in my opinion, are caused by being perfection. if you get a "perfect body" comment everyday and then one day you go to school and no one says anything about how cute you look. or how nice your *** is. or how skinny you are, you start to get worried. that was the case with me. i was an average size and my best friend was anorexic. i saw how skinny she got and i thought i would do it too. a tip to everyone: if a girl wears a red string around her wrist it might be a sign of anorexia or bulumia. kabbalah, that red string, it goes around the left wrist so if its on her right wrist ask her what it means.

This is total tripe. I despised every word of this crappy crappy story, not just because it was poorly written but also because the peson writing it obviously had no idea what she was talking about. maybe if she had taken the time to write it out before posting it she would have realised how poorly developped and written it is. or maybe she would have realised how stupid she sounded telling a story of how someone became anorexic after ONE PERSON called her fat. And finally, who in their right story-telling mind forgets to write why or how the protagonist died? seriously that's the dumbest mistake i've ever heard of.

I have an eating disorder. I didn't get that way because one person called me fat once. Often, you're predisposed to it - you're insulted terribly growing up, you've been molested, you've been abused, you've had trauma in your life. In most cases, it's not being called fat ONCE that sets you off. And you don't just suddendly become Anorexic. I don't know where you get the idea that you do.

this has turned into a fricken war or some ****...i think the story was very..i dunno how to explain it but it gives people another story to look to and actually see how many people out there are anorexic and bulemic..its not just another **** story.....bunni88, yes you can become anorexic from just one person calling you fat, sometimes thats all it takes, you could have this ever going idea in your head that you are fatter than a whale or something and then someone calls you fat or the likewise and you just stop eating to please the other person......
worthwaitingfor, i dont think she was trying to be original, just trying to get a dead friends story out so her "voice" will be heard, and even if it doesnt make a big nation wide difference, i bet someone on this site that just happened to be browsing, read that story and gave second thoughts to being anorexic or talked to a friend about their problem....earthgoddess, that was cold
