Today in health we had a very heated discussion about pornography.
I personally feel that it sends the wrong message to teens and young adults about how sex is like in "real life" and what people really look like and should be treated.

And every couple is different. I watch porn with my bf all the time and we've been together for 4 years. Do you think that either of us remembers the face or name of the pair we looked at a couple weeks ago? No. Because as I 've already said, people watch porn because they just want to watch sex in progress not because they want to have sex with whoever is in it. Duh.

Pornography takes your attention away from the one you should be looking at while in a monogamous relationship. It's not...right, looking at other people exploiting their own bodies and saying it is good for a relationship. That's just warped and wrong.

Kharybdis is right. Sex is just a humanlistic natural thing. It may be immature to some who may view sex in a different viewpoint or a different aspect. I think pornography is okay if its not the kind that is an adult forcing someone to perform sexual acts with one another. My girlfriend finds enjoyment in it, and I may watch it only very seldom occasions. But It depends on the person and how they view sex. Whether they view it as immoral and digusting or as beautiful and natural.

Kharybdis you are spot on there - no ones getting into a van with a bunch of strangers, unless they're in dire straights and need some crack or H or something - sorry to put it like that but it's true - a few of us were driving a few years back and this girl came up and offered to suck and fluck us all for a £100. No chance, to do that would take away everything it should mean to be a human being. But we could have chucked here the money, filmed it and stuck it on the web - so there is obviously some dark content on the web. But I am a huge fan of porn and watch it regulary. I look for the good stuff, it doesn't degrade women coz trust me I don't look as smooth and fit as 90% of the men on the well produced stuff, not to mention I can't spray 4 girls with enough to make them jump back - but thats not the point, it's a fantasy. Completely controlled and so clever it's crazy, they fool a load of people into thinking they're at home with serious psychological programming, all for the amount of cash the show probably makes in a day....then they come out with hopes of stardom only to one day realise that to achieve such status requires hard work. Can't really see the next Jack Nicholson coming out of BB. But maybe, who knows. Anyway, all I'm saying is that porn is great - as long as you know what you're watching. Another reason companies like Private etc are good - you know everyone is in the same game and everyone is safe and everyone is beautiful for the simple reason that they work damn hard, they have top make up and designers and all that...hasn't anyone noticed most hollywood films don't have less than stunning main characters?? Is that degrading? Nope. I feel strongly about the way people judge porn. Like you have to sit there with spots w***in in front of a 14 inch CRT monitor. Well I watch mine on a 32" flat screen on the wall with a sound system worth well over £2000 - I only say that because I want to convey the quality and detail I look for in things - and sometimes I watch it with my girlfriend of 8 years, she enjoys it sometimes but also it gets me off her back!! She knows I don't think that it all happens like that in real life. Then maybe I'll switch it off and play some guitar or something. Or knock up a chilli for a bit of munch. Etc. Etc. Don't judge a million different lifestyles that come under one word. I think pornography is okay for people to watch if it's NOT the really horrible kind... like if it's just the normal sex. It's better then people going out and raping other people because they want to watch something like that. Kids get curious about sex and if parents weren't so crazy about kids watching it then I don't think they would as much. we always do what our parents tell us not to. If the sex was NORMAL and didn't send the message that it was okay to do those horrible things to people then it's okay. I hate porno because it degrades women but if that's what people want to look at then it's fuckin' freedom.

completely. Its the persons choice to watch porn or not. I personally think pervs and sex addicts watch it most, but Ive heard about couples wanting to experiment. Porn doesn't bother me

Porn is kind of sick. I mean people who dont get none they usually watch it so they get off get my drift so if you ant tobe in a porno just be prepared cause to me that makes you look sleezy and easy but if you watch it you watch it cant do nothin bout it its jusst pleasure for about what 5 minutes

You can't really refer to "pornography" as though it's some monolithic entity. There are hundreds of different niches and each one has a different take on sex, some healthy, some unhealthy, and some more or less neutral.

Amateur pornography, for instance, is a fairly large and popular niche. All of the content is independently produced by individuals or couples, so the porn naturally sends a message about sex "in real life". For a lot of couples, pornography is a healthy and enjoyable part of their sex lives--there are more exhibitionists out there than you might think.

In a lot of professionally produced pornography, you could argue that they promote exaggerated, if not unhealthy, perceptions of body image and normal sexuality. I won't deny that--there are a lot of plasticized blondes out there. However, the growth of the internet has enabled content producers to show different women, more natural women, as well. For every bleached blonde there's a girl you'd see walking down the street in any major city.

I don't agree, though, that most porn sends a message about sex "in real life". The interactions are so exaggerated in most cases that a viewer who thinks even remotely critically would understand that porn isn't reality. In reality, a MILF probably wouldn't be willing to get in a van filled with a shady camera crew and fuck a marginally attractive middle-aged dude in the Toys 'R Us parking lot. Just saying.

All that said, porn isn't a creepy thing or an immature thing--it's a human thing.
