I hear a lot of guys say that they would never go out with a girl who asked them to go out first. We had a school dance where the girls asked the guys, and I heard one guy bragging about how many girls he had said no to! I really like this one guy in my science group, and I think that he might like me, but I'm not sure. I kind of wanna ask him out, but I don't want to if he is going to take it as a turn off. Are there any guys that could offer their opinion on this? Is it ok to ask a guy or does this mean that he doesn't WANT to ask me out?

I don't really see what you have to lose by asking a guy out; worst case scenario, he says no. And yet somehow life will go on...
