Very true. Until recently I was very anorexic. I still am, I suppose. These past couple of weeks I have said screw it and eaten quite a bit, but then again, I've also started puking up my food, so I guess I'm going from one bad habit into another.

It's NOT just a problem with women. Not at all.

anorecia is a scary thing.. i could never be that because i love food.. but i had a friend that was ... she eats a little bit, says shes full and says she is fat and goes and pukes.... she was balimic and anorexic since she was in the 5th grade.. its a scary thing to go to your friends funeral and see her laying in a casket weighing 76 lbs! think about your actions!! dont do something stupid

First, yes anorexia is a major problem, it is beyond unhealthy, but also take into consideration that some people are naturally that way. I am an 18 year old male, i wrestle and my normal body fat is 5.1%, the norm is arond 20%, i hate when people say that i am anorexic, i am not. I hate to hear it because i do not abuse my body like that, i am in perfect shape. So don't accuse ppl cause it does suck to hear it. But if u r i was there to once, and it kills your body nd makes you pale, if u want to lose weight then run, and eat right, such as bno cokes and fries, and you'll be amazed, but eating right isn't a diet, diets are temporary, it needs to be a commitment.

In 6th grade, i used to make fun of those popualr chics. they all are skinny, pretty and popular. you know, you have them at your schools too. x.x well we used to make fun of them like this for ex.: " * takes tiny bite of a cracker* OMG i ate way too much * sticks finger down throat, pretends to puke*" yea you probablly done it too.. but i did't know what exactually it meant to have a eating disorder. I was just jealouse of them so i made fun of them.. alot of teenagers starve themselfs or make themselves throw up.. its a sad thing, really it is. its just so crewl how people call other people names.. and how people make fun of their sizes.. its not their fault they are different.. o.O

ok. anorexia is a troubled disorder, and me being one that deals with it, i speak first-hand. I dont eat that often, but i do eat atleast 4 times a week. I know how to control my hunger, when to eat, and when not to eat. I am constantly pushed by my own mother (who weighs in around 400 pounds, a.k.a. a female caucasian version of ruben studdard) to lose a few more pounds. i never wanted to do it, but i have become almost addicted to the disorder. i have been dealing with it for 3 years, and it wont stop until i'm 18. anorexia is a problem, but it wouldn't start if people didn't say/do anything related to someone being fat.

8 million American women alone suffer from an eating disorder. And that's just the number that admit to having one. Guys especially are a lot less likely to come forth with the issue. E.d. people do not think the disorder is "cool". Nobody sees true beauty in wasting away and that's a fact. Your sense of beauty get radically distorted but any e.d. person is lying if they say having your hair fall out, your skin turn grey, and lanugo grow all over is beautiful. I guarantee it. People do get addicted to an e.d., physiologically and psychologically. But to attribute that to their belief that they're fat or to someone calling them fat is superficial. An e.d. goes so far beyond that it's not even funny. An e.d. is never about food or weight or the body. Not truly. And no, it doesn't usually arise from someone callying them fat.

First of all, go out and learn what feminism is REALLY about. Hint: it isn't about hating men and thinking women are superior. To say that less than 10 deaths occur from anorexia completely underscores your lack of any neurons or knowledge. Both anorexia and bulimia kill a lot more people than that. Without treatment, up to 20% die and even with treatment, 2-3% die. So I'll be generous and take the lowest number (2%) -- and that of 8 million is a lot more than 10 people. In fact,2% of just 1 million is 200 times more dead people than your amazingly inaccurate estimation.

People!! E.d. are NOT caused by being laughed at!! You cannot "catch" an eating disorder. It's never genuinely about wanting to be thin because you will never be thin enough. I don't see the picture but most models are way too thin and like it or not, they do contribute to our collective distorted body image.

My suggestion is that you shouldn't be posting your opinion if you're just going to talk out of your butt. EDUCATE YOURSELF and know what you're talking about. Otherwise you won't be able to back up your misstatements when called on it.

Well, anorexia is probably caused by laughing at someone who is fat and well, the insecurity of the person can cause them to walk right up to anorexia and want to be thin. It's not the model's fault that some people want to be thin. It's also the people making fun of the "overweighted" person. I'm not "overweight", and I've never been anorexic, and never been made fun of my weight, but the making fun has to stop.

my mom was an however-u-spell-it. she said that most ppl who become anerexic feel out of control and that not eatin is a way 4 them 2 control, b/c no1 can MAKE them eat. hope that helps
