Not to be contradictary, but there is another side of the fence. I am sixty pounds underweight and 5' 11', and i have gone through hell because i am a "stick" and a "shadow." If u pay attention to them, it feeds their will to hurt. This might be coming from the totally wrong person, but aren't those first five pounds the "vanity weight?" it could be better, of course, but it could be worse

I used to be 60 ounds overweight. I know what it's like. But if you're only 5 punds overweight, then people probably aren't staring and thinking that you are a pig and don't take care of yourself. They might be staring at the weight you lost on your diet. Besides, even if they are staring at you for the reason you think they are, then they have really low self-esteem, and you shouldn't care what they think about you; they'll only hurt you. Have a little confidence in yourself and be proud of the weight you lost. And screw all the people who make fun of you because you look different than they do.

You know what makes you loose weight? No more soft drinks, only juices and water. I've never been overweight or whatever, but I quit Coca Cola and all soft drinks a year ago and I lost 3 pounds.... and its good because calcium gets to your bones better... and if you do sports like me thats good because youre stronger

being overweight is just a turn off to people. They think of a skinny girl w/a huge rack and huge a$$ as being attractive...well i am skinny but my rack and my a$$ are small too. I may not be overweight but I am far from perfect...and don't worry, if all you need to lose is 5 pounds, i wouldn't be so concerned. Your diet should take care of those as long as you exercise too. Be happy you aren't one of those people who could stand to lose 100+ pounds....Now that would be embarrassing.

look, i'm overweight too... and i get stares and whispers and giggles behind my back. i'm aware of everything tho they think i'm not... but you know what? you just gotta carry yourself with confidence. worse comes to worse, you can always punch 'em. works for me...

I think that it all has to do with the image controlled by the media. I think bigger is better. Look at big stars like monique, fat joe, jadakiss, that dude in smashmouth... many people... ruben studdard. I love him. So talentes. My point is , you can't stop what other people think, but you can cahnge your own views of yourself.

it really does not matter what other people think just dont pay no mine what people say or think .i may not be fat but i wear glasses,i might not be the best looking girl but still make my way around school.i dont mean do tthis but who ever mess with me i will hit them and win i dont let know body talk about me or anybody i know

(sry im on my friend's lap top, and its really hard to type). but, maybe you are really attractive and u just have a little belly. or, maybe you really are obese and just cant take a hint. who are all these people who think fat guys are no big deal?? girls gain more weight faster, thats fact. i'll put it simple, we just have a slower matabloism, and we are more prone to be chubby. ok, but when guys are fatter...if anythinjg its worse! I see fat guys getting made fun of just as much as girls.

I know, I used to be one. Then I lost 70 lbs in 6 months. Huzzah for WILLPOWER, DIET, AND EXCERCISE.

After my personal experiance, I realized that the VAST majority of fat people are simply too lazy, weak, or just oblivious to deal with their problem.

Ever think that they're staring at you for a different reason? If you really are only five pounds overweight, no one notices that. Instead of automatically assuming that they're staring at you because you're overweight, realise that they might be staring at you because of:
-****ty clothing
-Something you did
-Etc.
I think youi're making it up in your mind that people are staring at you.

They've been brainwashed by the media that anorexic is beautiful and fat is not. Nobody's perfect...and people can be shallow. Present yourself in a confident way, so people will now be staring at you like "Wow, she really likes her unperfect body" instead of "Dang, she's a fat cow" And when will ppl realize that weight is also a genetic factor in some???

it's really bothers me beacuse a guy can be a little overweight and no one cares yet when a girl is a little overwieght it's like wow she's a whale. I totally agree with what you saying but self-esteem is also something. Depending on what i'm wearing i feel good or bad. If i think it looks good on me then i fell good, if i think something makes me look fat, i fell fat. IT's all in the mind.
