Question:
i heard girls mother's often pressure their daughter's to lose wait. is this true? i've always wonders why some girls always think they're fat when they're obviously not, is it that or something else? a diet is one thing, but anorexia or belimia is really sad. my ex was belemic and it was ridiculous because she was beutiful. and then her friend started it and she was already like a twig. i just don't understand it.
Anyway, the other day in phycology class we were talking about body weight and dieting and someone said that the biggest factor in thinking they were overweight was their mother and then what really surprized me was that a lot of other girls agreed and said the same thing. is this realy why or is it something else?

why (in the past or currently) do you feel overweight?

please vote (or die! sorry, had to say it)

Choices:
because your of your mother
because a boy said you were
because a girl said you were
because of models and magazines
you don't know

My mom has never told me to lose weight. She has told me to eat healthier, because all that bad food is going to catch up to me.

What if what you think is great, really is great, but it's not as great as something greater?

It's not so much pressure to lose weight. It's more my mother telling me to stop eating chocolate chips that she will use in a baking project that will never happen.

I've never been bulimic or anorexic and I usually eat too much and my weight is a little more than i would like it to e (aka 10 pounds) and my mom will say things like..."thats enough appetiser/desser/food" and it bothers me but i tld her and she stopped saying stuff. I hope that answers your question.

yogore, you try being insulted everyday eveyday by someone you love and see if your self esteem lowers.

People can't blame others for their low self-esteem.

she never pressured or pressures me on my weight. she only wants me to be myself, but also healthy. luckily our family is naturally thin cuz of our fast metabolism. it's never really been an issue for me.... thank God.

my mom never did....i don't feel over weight anymore, but my dad used to call me fat all the time. he was a jerk anyways, now that i only see him once a month he calls me anorexic. No one shopuld be able to pressure you into feeling fat though, just ignore them if you do because chances are you aren't.

My mom never preassured me on lossing weight.

The only preassure she has given me all my life was to never depend on a man financially.

I don'y know why i feel fat. All i know is that when the body is deprived of nutrients and loses a certain amonut af weight, you stop thinking rationaly and the way you see yourself is severly altered.
