I have been a vegitarian for over a year now... for the most part. I have slipped up twice and given in to the temptations of a delectable fast food chicken sandwich. I feel so HORRIBLE but I get cravings for things like a Taco Bell Taco or Pepperoni pizza! I don't want to regularly eat any kind of meat again, but, I want some meat sustenance every once and a while. Any fellow vegitarians with advice to help??

I agree with Kharybdis. There are a lot of good substitutes to meat. Have you ever tried tofu turkey? It is really good. Or veggie burgers, those are good too.

They're just cravings. I know sometimes its hard to get through, but they're just cravings. I'm vegan and I've had a few cravings in the past, but guess what, they go away. If that doesn't work, find a substitute. I had chili and cornbread yesterday. Yum.

I'm not vegetarian because of the killing of animals; I'm vegetarian because of my health. So, I can't give you gory stories and pictures about slaughterhousese and such, but PETA sure will. Just go to their website and print of a picture of a dead cow and bring it with you whenever you're out to eat, or grocery shopping.

Try some soy meat. The consistency is generally pretty close to real meat, and the flavor's not too far off either.

oh wow, some of guys are just so...nice.
I don't know what to tell you kid but, its going to happen. We are all tempted to do things we don't want to do, whether it be with food or simply peer pressure. Get over the fact that you ate a chicken and continue with your beliefs. Worrying about it now will not change the fact that you did it. Resisting temption gives you a great satisfaction so just hold on to what you believe is correct and go for it and try and if you mess up...get up and do it again and again. If it's important to you, you will try and make it work.

If you have to force yourself to not eat meat, then what you are doing is unnatural to your body, so of course you're going to want to eat meat every once in a while. You brought it onto yourself. Live with it.
