If one has feelings, one has freewill, no? If one has freewill, how does one not have a soul or spirit? I have spoken to animal spirits, or souls if you will, that is how I know they have them. Also comes in my belief of reincarnation, and that you can choose to be reborn as a "lesser" animal than human, or you could be human or another being on a different plane. That makes no sense, but I'm not in the mood to explain further.

I don't believe that animals have souls but I do believe that they have feelings. In my religion I was taught that animals don't have souls because they are on earth as food for humans. I believe, though, that if you beat an animal or mistreat it then it FEELS hate toward you or it is scared of you. I also believe that animals can FEEL love and show affection toward other animals or humans.

"the question is not can they speak nor can they feel, but can they suffer?" -pin.
Why wouldn't animals have feelings? (I assume animals is not including humans) Well, a pig has the intelligence of a 3 year old and I can't remember the others.
I'm very tired to get very involved in this subject. You should check out peta2.com.

hmm i think that it says somewhere in the bible that they dont *not sure not sure!* but it doesnt say anything about them going to heaven or he11 if they die... our religion teacher talked about this in school and she said that in heaven we are supposed to be like 100% happy but animals dont go to heaven. then someone said that in order to be 100% happy, their pets would have to be with them in heaven...so...i dont really know. i guess they can be in heaven with you but they dont have souls?

Yes, they taste good, which is part of my belief, that we should thank the One for all we have and ask permission of the animal before we take their life...but that's just me.
And I think it because... well, I've spoken to animals (Jen, back me up on this, and no I don't forget anything. Reach way back into your memories to our old emails), and I have several animal friends, some physical, some not. Are humans not just an elaborate form of animal? I know you're Xian, and what most think on this, but we have souls, don't we? Or should you doubt all you belive just because of a simple question you have asked.
Never stop asking though. Questioning leads to answers, and answers lead to knowledge. Knowledge lead to wisdom, and such wisdom cannot be taken without sacrifice (as my favourite god, Odin, knows all too well... but that has nothing to do with this, does it?)

they have a soul but it is a much less developed soul than yours or mine, and animals often know when they've done something wronge. You can tell by there attitude, and they often have a look of guilt. If animals didn't know when they did something wronge they could never have been successfully trained. Thou, they don't always know when they've done something wronge. as far as going to heven, i believe at least some of them do. -evil
