I have really bad cramps too, I mean REALLY bad. I've gotten so sick that I vomited once... *oversharing* :P Anyway, you can get Seasonal, a new form of birth control that lets you get your period only 4 times a year. So, even if it's really bad, you only feel it 4 times a year! Roll Eyes

Excedrin, heating pad, and reduce salt intake a little before and during your period! If it continues very badly, you should think about seeing your doctor. I hope they gt better!!

I get cramps really bad, I had to change my diet b/c of them. I also use a rice pillow or heating pad, or I sit in a hot tub. The heat from them really help. Smile

Heating pads help calm down your cramps, also u can see your doctor about birth control, that also helps to control cramps, midol extra strenght that helps also... drink anything that is warm like tea try to avoid cold drinks...as far as the tampons go...if u can feel them...your not putting it in right!! Ok I take motrin but they usually only come in 200mg dosages. Your body should be able to handle 800mg at least. Try that. As far as tampons go try someting that meets your absorbancy needs. Try the teen size. Only use regulars when you have a medium flow. You might not be using them right too. Try putting your foot on the toilet seat next time. Im serious! and you should insert the aplicator a little more than 1/2 way. Geez I feel like a commercial...

Anyway, people would not believe the wonders that drinking water will do. I have endometriosis and sometimes (once a month to me more direct) I felt like dying. I heard that drinking water well help lots of problems healthwise and I started drinking 64 oz. a day. I don't have the major back pains and curling up in a ball and dying syndrome anymore!!!

Oh, btw, I think it's hilarious that Dr. Strange had to post under the "cramps" post. haha

Well, I explained this wrong.

OK, drinking more water will make your period flow more, which will shorten your period, not because you go to the bathroom more. Sorry about that... and I hope that makes sense.

It may be true that drinking water shortens periods - I don't know, I've never heard that before. I don't think it's because it makes you go to the bathroom more, though. That doesn't make sense, because there are two different openings..that's why a girl can still pee when she wears a tampon.

I don't really use anything, my cramps are on the first and last day of my period ... usually. In the winter time they get really bad for some reason and I just use a heating pad. Or I just drink a ton of water and walk around.

Did you know that if you drink 6-8 glasses of water that your periods will be shorter because you will have to go to the bathroom more often and it will 'come out' more? Also when you exercise on the regular basis.

I have tried this, I drank 6 glasses of water everyday and my periods were only 3 days instead of 6, also I had no cramps, bloating or fatigue.

My friend Laura gets horrible cramps and she said Tylenol (I have no idea how to spell it) doesn't work nor does Advil. Also! Tylenol is really bad for you, it kills your livers and heart. Tylenol is also addicting.

I don't get cramps

I suppose you don't, since you're a boy. It would be odd if you did. And Spud, if you want to stay alive or intact, do not mention that. Girls will try to kill you alive and you might come out with one less body part. Just letting you know...

I'm now realising it's weird for me to be in this thread on a regular basis, isn't it?

Sort of, but you know what you're talking about... Which is also odd, huh? Oh well ... my brother is a know-it-all about periods, it's scary! So don't worry about it.

Really? Sometimes it's like that, but if you have it right you shouldn't even feel it. I know it's uncomfortable if it's too far up, or not in enough..

I use tampons most of the time, but there are times when I really don't feel like sticking a tampon up, so yeah. Hah. Isn't this a pleasant thread.

Actually it was exactly the opposite.

quote:
nooo no no. tampons just absorb before it actually comes out. pads or tampons can't change how long your period is.

Well, as I said before, my mother said that, and I will not vouch for her sanity.

I can't even put into words how much I hate you, honestly. It is impossible to be nice to you, and I will not try to be anymore. So everything that I said that was polite on the abortion thread, disregard, please.

My health teacher told the class that ibuprofen would work better than Tylonol. I know they're different drugs, but I don't know why exactly it would work better.

Thermacare makes heat patches, that are really thin and attach to your abodmen somehow..I think it has adhesive that sticks to you're underwear. I'm not completely sure, as I've never used them. Anyway, if you're not at home, using an electrical heating pad would be hard, so those things are cool I guess.

I dunno...I know a lot vegans that are christian...people might think of you as somewhat religious!

just kidding...but I couldn't help myself...

What was this down below about periods lasting longer if you only wear tampons? I haven't used a pad in 2 years...I wonder if that's why my period lasts so long...hmm...

dr.strangelove(<ha. I love that movie)- I do eat healthy. my mom's a nutritionist and I have to count all that I "intake" otherwise she will stop buying me vegan foods.

When someone's period is only a discharge without any fat in it, that's when it's dangerous. Usually it's anorexic people who have that because they have virtually no body fat. That also makes them incapable of having children.
