heat on your lower abdomen and some incense worked wonders for a friend of mine

Excercise actually does help because it helps the blood flow. If your legs bother you during it drink milk or take calcium pills. Most birth controls make it hurt less and tea also helps alot. Staying hydrated is also important so drink lots of water.

Excercuse makes it feel so much more awful, mine are so bad that I get pain killers for them, but I hate taking them, they make my mind woosey, so instead of that I lay on my stomache and fall asleep as much as humanly possible.

i like tampax compax tampons... they are small and fit into little places easily, so you can carry them in small purses... I don't get cramps that bad, so I tend to ignore them...
Please save this for me. I'll come back for you, love, I promise to.--Ludo

I put a heating pad on my abdomen and another on my lower back. It helps SOOO much. I vowed never to take midol again because it didn't help the pain...all it did was help get rid of the bloating by making me pee every half hour. I typically take naproxen (aleve), which is a powerful muscle relaxer. I also now take some sort of prescription stomach meds to keep my tummy happy. Typically when I'm laying down, I keep one leg extended and the other foot pulled up to my knee...that's the most comfortable. I also walk around periodically. The BEST thing to do is to get your mind off of it as much as possible. If it's nighttime and you're trying to fall asleep, put on the TV...if it's during the day, hang out with friends or do something fun.

How do you rid of the pain and the suffering? I got my period right now and the cramps are so bad right now! I try Midol, it works until it wears off or sometimes i try coffee, b/c of the caffeine or sometimes chocolate. It works, but until like i said, it wears off. Do you have any other solution to get rid of the pain?

Ow I think I found my "sweet spot". My cramps are gone, but my foot and thigh are in horrible pain.

I had to get prescription ibuprofen from the doctor and I also use a heating pad or rice pillow to soothe the pain.

my period started when i was ten. and it was a nightmare. i had it 3 times a month with an INMENSELY heavy flow. i wore 5 undies, an overnight maxi pad, and shorts (if i was wearing a skirt), and it still leaked. so i went to teh doc and he gave me birth-control pills (even if i wasnt having sex) and it gradually got better. but i was in that really bad stage for like 2 years before i went and got the pill. now i have a regular period that lasts 2 and sometimes 3 days (thank god) -arianhorn

When I get bad cramps I take two midol and some times it helps me to put a heat pack on my stomach. If the cramps aren't too bad for me to move I find that exercise helps too.Talk to your doctor if you think your level of discomfort during your period is abnormal.

"If u get someone to jab thier thumb there for 30 sec, then break, then 30 sec, then brake, then 30 sec, u r cramps will get better."
lmao, ok some questions...
#1. Did you discover that yourself or did someone just start poking you and you were like, "hey...!"
#2. Is it like tickling yourself where someone else has to do it?
#3 Does it hurt you to the point that you don't notice your cramps because you are rolling on the floor clutching your leg to your chest screaming? These are some things I need to know before telling someone to poke me to death.

Ahhh! To those girls who can take pills that work I'm jealous! I've tried EVERY period med out there, over the counter, and none work. Grrrr. There is a little sweet spot in every girls thigh, if you'll feel around with u r thumb on the outside of u r right leg, theres 1 spot that'll HURT! If u get someone to jab thier thumb there for 30 sec, then break, then 30 sec, then brake, then 30 sec, u r cramps will get better. BUT IT HURTS! Be warned.

quote: KarenKoltrane- a lot of vegans I know use this type of cup that I can't remember the name of right now! grr!!!! Well, it's like a tampon, but they can be reused and you can measure your flow.
its called a divacup ( www.divacup.com). I use one and its the best thing ever. I hated tampons. They always leaked and the whole urine on the string is gross. The divacup is a little akward at first (it took me a few periods to get used to it), but now it is amazing! I empty it three times a day, and I don't feel it. I no longer have to worry about falling asleep while watching tv or something like that and have my tampon leak. I recommend it. I though I'd chip in on the whole veganism and lighter periods. I'm a vegan and my period is still the same. I have 5-6 days. 2-3? I'm jealous.

i use to get cramps really bad, then a friend talked me into tryin out for the guys high school football team *first female QB* and i dont know if you've seen how much a football team works out but they do alot and the first period cramps while i was on the team, i thought i was gonna die! now im not sayin go join the high school football team but i found that the more i worked out and did those crunches or did those stretches the more the pain went away, soooooooooo in the long run, try stretching out those muscles, if that doesnt work try a hot tub and focus the jets on your lower back, but now because i was on the team for so long i rarely get cramps anymore.
