quote: tampons, you always feel them when you move.
Really? Sometimes it's like that, but if you have it right you shouldn't even feel it. I know it's uncomfortable if it's too far up, or not in enough.. I use tampons most of the time, but there are times when I really don't feel like sticking a tampon up, so yeah. Hah. Isn't this a pleasant thread.

Well, as I said before, my mother said that, and I will not vouch for her sanity. quote: people might think of you as somewhat religious!
I can't even put into words how much I hate you, honestly. It is impossible to be nice to you, and I will not try to be anymore. So everything that I said that was polite on the abortion thread, disregard, please.

My health teacher told the class that ibuprofen would work better than Tylonol. I know they're different drugs, but I don't know why exactly it would work better. Thermacare makes heat patches, that are really thin and attach to your abodmen somehow..I think it has adhesive that sticks to you're underwear. I'm not completely sure, as I've never used them. Anyway, if you're not at home, using an electrical heating pad would be hard, so those things are cool I guess. quote: break down doors with my raw strength.

I dunno...I know a lot vegans that are christian...people might think of you as somewhat religious! just kidding...but I couldn't help myself... What was this down below about periods lasting longer if you only wear tampons? I haven't used a pad in 2 years...I wonder if that's why my period lasts so long...hmm...

KarenKoltrane- a lot of vegans I know use this type of cup that I can't remember the name of right now! grr!!!! Well, it's like a tampon, but they can be reused and you can measure your flow.

dr.strangelove(<ha. I love that movie)- I do eat healthy. my mom's a nutritionist and I have to count all that I "intake" otherwise she will stop buying me vegan foods.
When someone's period is only a discharge without any fat in it, that's when it's dangerous. Usually it's anorexic people who have that because they have virtually no body fat. That also makes them incapable of having children.

"My ex-girlfriend was a pretty strict vegetarian, and she still had 5-8 day periods."
Wow you know you and your girlfriend are close when you know how long her periods are...either that or she was...very obvious (i.e. moody) lol.
"if you wear a pad, your periods are shorter than if you wear a tampon"
nooo no no. tampons just absorb before it actually comes out. pads or tampons can't change how long your period is.
"And, as far as I know, when there's malnutrition, you lose your period altogether, it doesn't get shorter. That's why anorexic people don't have periods."
Yeah it can get shorter too before going away.
" "So maybe your ex-girlfriend wore only tampons" "
"Actually it was exactly the opposite."
Once again- you guys must have been close lol.
You have to respect the guys that post on . . . "feminine" forums lol.

It's sort of sliding scale. There are varying degrees of malnutrition. I think though, what we're seeing here is that it's got more to do with just individual circumstances rather than diet. I was just sort of ranting against the whole "going vegan is a cureall" idea. I'm now realising it's weird for me to be in this thread on a regular basis, isn't it?

quote: 2-3 days sounds like malnutrition to me.
Well, I'm not exactly an expert on these things or anything, but, according to my mother (so it's probably wrong), if you wear a pad, your periods are shorter than if you wear a tampon. I don't know if that's true, but I do know my Mom lasts for a little over three days, and she wears only pads, and I wear only tampons, and I have mine for a week. So maybe your ex-girlfriend wore only tampons, and maybe the vegan (I can't remember who it is) wore pads. But then again, maybe not. And, as far as I know, when there's malnutrition, you lose your period altogether, it doesn't get shorter. That's why anorexic people don't have periods.

Yes, I have. Granted they were low quality doors, but I still did it. Huzzah. quote: A healthier diet can improve periods. Like mine are maybe 2, 3 days now that I am vegan.
My ex-girlfriend was a pretty strict vegetarian, and she still had 5-8 day periods. She, however, made sure she got most of her vitamins. 2-3 days sounds like malnutrition to me.

You can drink Chamomile, Evening Primrose, Feverfew, Mint, St. John's Wort, or Tarragon tea, although I would recommend Chamomile, as it tastes the best, to me. But I would pretty much say try any of them, except Tarragon, as it tastes funny. Pushing down on my stomach kind of helps, which I guess it like your friend's cat laying on her stomach, but without the cat. And I would recommend any tampons with a plastic applicator, as those cardboard applicators are painful. quote: I envy you. Mine are 7!
Me, too. Maybe I should be vegan...

I take my back medication for my cramps. I suppose, technically, it's an anti-inflammatory or something, but it works for cramps, not for my back. Irony. Or, I pump myself full of Midol. If I can stay home, I do, I find a loose/stretchy pair of pants, curl up in bed.
FYI: If your cramps are extremely bad, you should talk to your doctor/gyno, and they might put you on the pill, it's supposed to help. Some girls' cramps are the equivalent to beginning labor pains. Ouch!!

"doing any weird acrobatics."
lol dr. strange that made me laugh and then my parents looked at me strange since we are watching You've Got Mail- not actually a very funny movie.
eating UNhealthy can also shorten your periods. whichever way you take it.
yeah activity actually does help. at school i notice i ahve cramps more in class than when i am doing p.e. or track, moving around. its supposed to relax your muscles. plus i think moving around doing other things distract you so you dont think about your stomach that much.
dr. strange? break down doors? how often have u done that...are you SURE you can? if you have never broken down a door, how do you KNOW? i think im going to break down a cabinet... just to see if i can now...

Well my doctor told me that if you get cramps, as soon as you start your period take 600 whatevers of ibuprofen every like 6 or 8 hrs...cause it helps get rid of the pain but also ibuprofen has something in it that actually stops the cramps from happening. And that much won't hurt you. And if you exercise it's supposed to help cramps..although I wouldnt be able to force myself to exercise. But if you exercise a lot it does make it shorter...mine used to be 7 days, now its like 5. But then again, that's just me But when I get bad cramps, yeah, I just kinda curl up and try to go to sleep...they're usually gone when I wake up. Or if I'm in school, I go to the nurse and go home . (The nurse knew my name last year cause I came in every month! )
