I'm sure many of you have seen the nearly ubiquitous t-shirts flaunting straight pride. And I'm sure many of you are, like me, disgusted by them. I admire the strong belief in a cause, but SP's cause is plain wrong. They make it dead clear on their website that they are anything but homophobic, however they still want to keep homosexual couples from being married. And for what reason? Procreation. If there's one thing in SP's favor, it's the fact that they aren't religion-based in their anti-gay marriage agenda...

Ah hah. I just went to the Straight Pride website and that's just ... wow. I think the major difference between STRAIGHT pride and GAY pride is the fact that they seem to be using it maliciously (Straight Pride) and I ... well that seems really offensive, reading all of that. I think that people should be entitled to their opinions, but when they use them with malicious intent ... it just seems wrong.

For the record, I will attempt to answer the age old question of: Do you choose to be Homosexual? -If the decision is based on what you choose to call yourself, yes. -If the decision is based on how you choose to behave, no. -If the decision is based on involuntary feelings of attraction, no. Any more questions?

Ladies and Gentleman this is a new millennium. I guess you don't realize how stupid you sound. The gay movement (yeah!!) is everything like the civil rights because the goal is the same. Equality. As for the quote from the bible, God made us all in his image. So I guess God is black, female, short, bald, fat, lesbian, wears glasses, and living in the low-income projects. I pray that they do give the GLBTQ community the same rights that straight community has. Let me repeat myself, the SAME rights, not superior rights or below humanly tolerable rights.

Hey now. She never said her sexuality was a decision. She decided to come out after being with what's-her-face for seven years. I'm fairly certain she was always a lesbian, but had never encountered a woman she found as physically and emotionally appealing as whatever-her-name-is. I think it's entirely possible to stop finding one sex appealing. Anyhow, back from when I was a kiddie and played basketball, Cheryl Swoopes was my hero. So, I have a bias.

This wasn't meant to be a debate over the rights of homosexuals (although you all know I'm all for that), it was meant to show how the Straight Pride movement is advocating straight supremacy. I don't care if you're proud of being hetero, just don't ridicule gays for living life differently than you. That goes for you too, shadowgirl. Does diversity mean anything anymore?

Personally, looking at this thread, I keep thinking how repetitive this debate is. It's not like arguing about why homosexuality is wrong or right is going to change the fact that it exists. It's existed since the time of the Ancient Greeks and Romans and perhaps even before. It exists in the animal kingdom. Arguing about it doesn't change it, so really there's no point in debating how wrong or right it is. I personally think that you should be proud of yourself no matter what. Being a lesbian, I actually don't find the Straight Pride thing that offensive. It's just showing that homosexuality is still sometimes seen as a threat. Things will change, for better or for worse. Arguing about it won't shift the inevitable outcome (whatever that may be).

To Shadowgirl: quote: People are born black their not born GAY.
What is it you people? Who would anyone choose to be gay? Oh, that's right, because no one chooses to be gay, they just are. Refer to my signature for my similar thoughts on your whole "living your life in sin" thing. quote: I believe that in order for a child to grow up right they need a mother(woman) and a father(man).
So children who grow up with a single parent for one reason or another have not "grown up right?" quote: I pray that they don't allow gays to marriage or have equal rights as straight couples.
Oh, so now its just "Screw the golden rule!" Hello? Jesus preached equality. Where have you been? Where were you in history class when the teacher was going on about King's ideologies? To Chelsea: quote: And yea, i don't mind homosexuals, just homosexuals that think that if for example, they dont get a job, then they think that they didnt get it because they are gay.
Of course, there are some people like that, but some times their accusations might just be accurate.

I am totally for SP. It makes sense for straight people to go out and support what they believe just like gays do. The gay movement(yeah right) is nothing like the civil rights movement in the 1960's. People are born black their not born GAY. If you choose to live your life in sin like gays then do so. There are actually people who do "pretend" to be gay, or just do it just to do it.

Are you fucking kidding me? Yea, they are not only homosexuals, what i meant is that that is all they present themselves to be. And yea, i don't mind homosexuals, just homosexuals that think that if for example, they dont get a job, then they think that they didnt get it because they are gay.

You can't prove that someone chooses something like that. You obviously don't understand anything I'm saying because what you say is contradicting everything I believe. "You learn about equality in the classroom but you find out about it in life" - Campus Confidential www.myspace.com/yogore

Ohhh, I see what you're saying. So if someone gets rocks thrown at them for being gay, it's their fault? Heh.
