I think that peer pressure is bad but i think that it is really over rated. I think that their is pressure to wear like american eagle and stuff but i think that drugs is not pushed on people as much as people make it out to be. At my school u can get drugs or bad drinks if u want to but it is not really pushed on u like people say. When u go to school they don't stand at the door and say if u don't take this i will beat u up. soo...... what do u think about it.?? Wink

It is not an excuse. It doesn't make you a victim when you do what other people say you should do. If it's really a threat to you, than you are a loser who deserves everything bad that ever happens to you because of it. "Peer Pressure" should be an oxymoron. The real bad things you should be worrying about are types of harrassment, rights violations and acts of violence... which peer pressure may lead to, but doesn't necessarily suggest.

It's unhealthy. A lot of kids do stupid stuff because of peer pressure becasue they're convinced that they'll be in the "in" crowd. People who pressure others to do stuff are just insecure with themselves, but if someone is weak minded enough to do what somwonw tells them then they're in the wrong too.

UGH! I go absolutely NUTS when the topic turns to 'cool clothes' to wear ! (Personally, I am a 'Gap' person...I could have worn their clothes 3 years ago, and I can probably wear them 5 years from now, and they will never be 'out of style')

The clothing industry is SUCH a ripoff. They use gorgeous models to entice us "Buy this $70 shirt, and you can have a girlfriend that looks like a supermodel!" WHATEVER !

Another rant: Abercrombie and Fitch: I think I could go to Walmart and buy a pair of jeans, rip up the hem on the leg, drag them behind my car for two months and sell them for $100. I can't STAND that wrinkled look in clothing. I just makes me think that someone can't afford an iron, or worse, has never washed their clothes !

Sk8trPrep: Your story about your friend with the drug problem reminded me of a girl I knew who was dumped by her boyfriend because she wouldn't do drugs with him. I love how people who abuse drugs think that people who DON'T do drugs are the ones with the problem. Let's see: it's illegal, it's a narcotic and it's addictive. Gee, why WOULDN'T anyone wanna do that !? Big Grin

WTF? What does a clothing store have to do with anything?

Um..I think kawasakichic14 means that you have to wear that specific clothing to be in a certain crowd.
For example, most idiotic people think that wearing Hot Topic makes you a goth person all of a sudden so its peer pressure when someone sees that goth people only wear that brand of clothing and they think that the only way they'll be accepted by those "people" is to wear Hot Topic crap.

Peer Pressure is garbage. Don't listen to it. Go w/ your own feelings, morals, and style. Smile

Peer Pressure is BS. Who cares if you don't wear those American Eagle clothing? This is just cr@p. There is not a lot of that if you hang out with he right crowd at my school. But, if you hang out with the gang bangers or the stoners just say that you are screwed, they spike your drinks and stuff you have no way out of it (at my dumpy school anyway). You will most likly become like them. To bad for you if you do.

This stuff isn't cool. But, I really don't think about it. I'm happy, I have great friends and a good family. So, they're not perfect, but to bad. I don't need that stuff, if I'm considered "uncool" Good for me, I'm not going to f**k up my life like some of these idiots. If people are dumb enough to do it, than that's their f*c*ing problem.

Yes, I'm very angry right now.

Peer pressure only comes in the form of, "be as stupid as I am," in my school. It's a real pain. And the people mature enough to put up with it are few and far between.

Peer pressure isn't as bad at my school as people think, but it is still there. We have it mostly out of school. Like at parties people drink or get high. (not very often though) My friend is a drg addict and tried getting me to do it, but I just said no. LOl that sound really corny!

I think generally you have to have friends to experience peer pressure, so I don't have any problems.
