Well when I first started shaving my legs I never told my mom, I was like about...13...yeah, I think. About that white sticky stuff you mentioned, well if I'm not mistaken that's like lubricant that is produced by your body and it is a normal function, so don't freak out about it. Pads won't give you that syndrome you spoke about, only tampons. Don't freak out, it's good that your asking questions, try to get as much information as possible, after all it's your body and you should learn how to take care of it in the proper manner.

By the way, I too think that 11 days is too much, you should check with your doctor.

No you can't get TSS from pads, only tampons, but you could get other stuff like a yeast infection. It depends on what your discharge is like. Use common sense. You should be able to tell when it needs to be changed.

I think I started shaving in 7th grade... maybe i don't know. It seems forever ago. I dont even remember asking her. I probably just said something like "Hey Mom, I've shaving now" and that was that. Most mothers dont have issues with it. Your 14. Aren't most people already shaving? Not that it matters, but dont you're mom will say you're too young.

i leak that gross stuff to. I have since i was like 11. I am 16 now. I asked my mom if i could shave my legs i started in like 6th grade. You can get TSS from pads? I thought it was just tampons. Is that what u were talking about?

I'm not the only one who leaks mucus-or is it mucus? I dunno.I thought that wasn't normal.PHEW!
I dunno about the pads. I have to change them because they irritate me and I bleed heavy until the third day then pretty much stop for the next 2.
I sarted shaving december of my 7th grade because I didn't know that most kids here start in the 3rd for some reason. No one cared but I thought it looked kinda silly so I started when I knew if I cut myself no one would see but i lucked out.
I think you only nick yourself if you have relatively bumpy skin. but I cannot get the hair off my knees!grrr!lol

oh yeah i almost forgot.... don't listen to all these girls saying oh use liners and not pads. do what ur body tells u. for example if ur period is real heavy (lots of blood) use a pad. but if it's really light then u can go ahead and use a liner. just use a pad for the first few times so u can help distinguish the differance for u.

i dont rememebr when i started shaving but it was my idea and my mam made me start w/an electric before switching to razor. yes good idea no rally it is. then the white stuff. no sweat. it's normall. don't even worry about the pad. the toxcic shock syndrome ok... that has nothing to do w/a pad. by the way i'm 15. the only reason u should change a pad every few hours is so it don't fill up and leak. a tampon is what u have to change every 4-8 hours so u don't get tss

oh wait okay you're 14 yeah well I'm 13 and barely have ahem cough chest poof and don't worry about being alate bloomer I am too and as annoying as it is and it seems unfair but if you feel secure with yourself and you don't let it get to you then it won't matter as much to you after a while

I started shaving regularly a little before my thirteenth birthday but I'd sort of been doing it in secret with my mom's razor for a while. I asked my mom once in sixth grade and she said no way, but then we were at the store and I asked if I could get a Venus. She asked what it was and I said it was a razor. She said fine if you want to shave go ahead but it's a pain (which I don't think it is)...I use a venus and Skintimate shave gel and after shave leg gel it really makes your legs SO smooth.I guess my point is that if you tell your mom you want to instead of asking if you can then maybe she'll see that you're growing up rather than her little girl asking if she can do this or that you know? And about the white stuff: it's perfectly normal you start of get it when you're nearing the maturation where you get your period. One of my friends uses a pas for it but I don't think you should. As icky as it is I'd just leave it be and change your underwear daily as usual. It comes out more in the middle of the cycle (inbetween times of the months) and all women get it it won't go away so you can't wear a pas everyday of your whole life! By the way...how old are you?

i've shaved since i was 11 and it was my idea and my mom let me. and i started my period at age 12, i used a pad at first, but then i tried a tampon and it worked better, for me. and liners are better then wering a pad all the time.

that's also very true. and the smell stays around for about 2-3 days after you use it.

yeah, but if you use something like nair (the hair removal lotion), you have to be careful. i know a girl who got some pretty nasty chemical burns from using that. knicking yourself once or twice is a lot better than chemical burns.

eh my mom lets me shave but shes not happy bout it. i dont noe y. theres notthing wrong with it. im kinda the opposite of u i started my period in 5th grade.i noe it sounds impossible but it happen. and the hole shaving thing i stole one of my dads razors and snuck it in my room so wen my parents arent home i shave.but my mom found the razor and i was so busted. so now she wantz me to use hair removal lotion thing.it works pretty good actully. so i think u should consider dat cuz i cant cut urself with lotion. but i shave sometimes like wen im to lazy to wait for the lotion

Just say mom can I shave my legs? I shaved my legs at 9! but be wear... use a good shaving creme... & use a panty liner... thinner= comfort I don't change my pad every few hours I don't have 2...(& I had my period since 9) but if it's really bad change evrey few hours!

when i was 11. mine. i didn't, i just bought a razor, took my dad's shaving cream, and copied an article from an old copy of ym at the library about shaving. shaving is a pain in the butt. maybe i'll move to europe when i'm older, and have an excuse not to shave.

i started shaving at 12,i just sked her if i coulg get a razor so i could start shaving, she wasnt thrilled at first but she got over it. that milky white stuff is called discarge, u will probably start your period soon.its almost IMPOSIBLE to get toxic shock syndrom from a pad. most cases were from girls using high absorbancy tapons. i wouldnt worriy about canging the pad unless it feels uncomfrtable and grossthen change it
