are u gay? (not meant to be offensive). I'm just wondering because you gave that reference about being in a girls body...but then you made the "jugs" comment which isn't really a gay comment if you know what i mean.

what do u think is the latest u can turn gay? do u think someone who is like 40 can become gay or do u think that they had always had those tendencies?

I don't think you can be born gay. It is your enviroment that you grow up in. I have a friend who I just found out is gay. He wasn't born that way. He dated girls before he turned gay. So,No, I don't think you can be born gay.

-----"""ok, would someone that is gay or lesbian want to be the opposite sex? like if there is a guy that likes guys, do u think that they want to be a girl? because the same friend i mentioned earlier sounds pretty happy and proud to be gay and i never asked him if he would want to be a girl but i've always wondered."""

Yes. Some do. Think how much easier it would be to find a boyfriend when you can choose from 48% of the population, a population all around you, at work, school, etc, instead of 1% of the population whom you can only come in contact with by going to a gay sports bar. However, MOST don't. People see the gay drag queens and trannies and say "ok, that person is gay" but they don't see the masculine side of the gay (male) community, which, if anything, is ULTRA male, and wants to be nothing but that. And yeah, also just the fact that they eventually grow to be proud of who they are makes them even more confident in their gender. When you think about it, gays/lesbians that feel like that are lucky in that way, it's like they get to totally embrace and understand one gender, almost like they get to be one species. Straight people always complain about conflicts between men and women; so do you ever wonder about how much easier it would be if you could potentially date/have romantic relationship with one of your (same-sex) friends?

Personally, I'd say not a chance in hell would I want to be a girl, though I wouldn't be averse to spending a week in a girls body, see what having jugs is like. I'd flash people sooooo much.

My friends little brother, was like 7 when he first started to act really gay, saying he wants to be a girl, he'd make lists of guys he likes, wear his moms clothes, play with dolls etc.

It doesn't make any sense to me that you can be born gay. My cousin use to be attracted to the opposite sex and later on became attracted to the same sex. I'm definetly not saying she CHOSE to be homosexual, I'm just saying she fell in love with somebody else who happened to be of the same sex. I'm sry I just don't get that "being born gay" stuff.

I've read that your sexuality is decided by the time you're three at the latest. I suspect it's somewhat innate, rather than being down to psychological factors, although I guess they could have an impact.

yes i think you are born attracted to the opposite sex, and i think that you can just about be born gay as well. i had a crush on a boy in preschool and i can't explain that. my parents never told me about liking guys or anything, i don't even know why i liked him!

i also know a guy that has been gay almost all his life. one time i asked him if he ever liked a girl and he said that the last time he had a crush on one was in first grade. so, its hard to say.

And this is becoming more of a shouting match than a logical discussion.

That didn't rhyme in tune with the "poem," but you don't mind, do you?

How about you rewrite that paragraph, because it made no sense. The only thing I could get from it was that you were trying to insult me. Unfortunately for you, it did not work. Nice try, try again later.

Trust me, gays are born gay. They just don't develop sexual feelings for the same sex until puberty hits.

For me, someone saying people choose to be gay or straight sounds like someone saying people choose to be male or female.

It's just.......a PART of you, it's so inherent and IN you, you know it's nothing you chose.

Well, with that logic, some people can choose to be gay also.

I think that there are many bisexuals-by-choice. Many of the instances bisexual activity I've encountered seems to be a sort of "do it because it feels good" type of activity.

We aren't talking about bisexuals, are we? I think a lot of bi people just choose to be bi so they can have sex more often. And yes, you COULD choose to be gay, but I don't think anyone would. My point: You are attracted to whatever sex you are attracted to, and it has nothing to do with your life, you just ARE.

quote:
"Research suggests that the homosexual orientation is in place very early in the life cycle, possibly even before birth. It is found in about ten percent of the population, a figure which is surprisingly constant across cultures, irrespective of the different moral values and standards of a particular culture." Statement on Homosexuality, American Psychological Association, 1994-JUL.

quote:
Detection of homosexual propensity in children:

Richard Green, a psychiatrist from UCLA has compared effeminate with "masculine" boys. 5 Children who grow up to become homosexuals often engage in "gender inappropriate play" in early childhood. 6 "'Feminine' boys played about four times as much with the doll...a third as much with the truck." By interviewing their child subjects later in life when they were in their teens and early twenties, the researchers found that 75% of the effeminate boys had become gay adult males. It is obvious that these boys were not taught this behavior. They did not copy their behavior from other children in the family; they were often under harsh and severe pressure from their parents to change. One reasonable conclusion is that that they are driven to this type of behavior by an innate trait which is outside of their control and consciousness.
