Why do guys just not understand us? When we want something, and give lil' clues to what we want...it's like they are...brain dead!Uh...it gets so annoying...! They always say guys make the first move...but actually...THE GIRLS DO if ya think about it...the guys just like to go braggin to all their buds..bout what girl he just got with..when it was the girl that got to you! I have a boyfriend now guys...so don't get me all wrong...but Man...some guys are jealous freaks...! all i have are mostly guy friends..and my b/f goes crazy...then i do! No matter what mood a guy is in....they always need to make their girl feel wanted...and loved..or TRUST ME the girl will get thoughts...and they aren't good!lols! when you have a girl friend...make her feel like you respect her sooooo much..like she's your everything...and when she wants something..you better get it...or atleast try..if you blow her off...Man..you screwed up! Now i'm pretty damn sure...mostly 90% of these girls agree with me...right..?!! Now girls...anything ya wanna add?..well here ya go...now lets make this board post BIG!!!!!!!!! and let guys see "WHAT A GIRL WANTS"

I think Korith really knows what he's talking about! I do agree with Jen, too… Girls do have to trust each other before they'll really open up. But with girls it's always seen as a compliment that you want to share. If I'm feeling upset or worried about something I almost feel like it's a duty to share with my closest girl friends, because if I didn't it would imply I don't trust them. For girls it's an expression of trust and a compliment to the other person, whereas a guy might feel like he's being a burden or that it's his duty to deal on his own. Speaking in general terms, of course. Bex

I didn't bother to finish reading that. I've heard it so many times i can basically predict what she said.
Here is something for you to think about...
As a girl you say that all men are stupid, and you cannot understand them whatsoever.
Why are men stupid, cause they can't understand females.
niether can understand the opposite sex, but one sex is smart, and one sex is stupid.
Makes perfect sense... ~shawn

Lets take a break up for example.
A girl will cry and run to her girlfriends for comfort.
Well, I wouldn't. Not to say that I'm afraid to show emotion or anything, but when I'm upset I want to be alone, at least at first. And so do a lot of the girls I know. And I have to trust someone implicitly to be willing to cry in front of them and talk to them about a breakup ect. And I trust about two people in the world besides my family, so I'm not exactly into emotional displays. I think it has a lot more to do with personality than gender. Also (and here I go with the gender again), do you think guys are more comfortable talking with girls that are friends than with other guys about a breakup or whatever? Love, Jen.

**Disclaimer**NOT speaking for all men, just my own personal observations, and experiences** Men don't generally talk about their emotional short comings with with other. There are allot of convos like this. "I really miss her [GF, Wife what have you]" -- "I really love her [ditto]" There aren’t allot of the same things i hear girls talk about to each other like. "I don't know what I would do without him!" (with a face full of tears) Lets take a break up for example. A girl will cry and run to her girlfriends for comfort. Whereas a man, who is equally as distrot over it, will prefer to be by himself to cry/think. Only 2 [male] friends who really trust each other will sit down and talk about. Generally for a man to talking about his emotions with another man, he is thinking to himself: "He doesn't want to hear this, I am just wasting his time." And ends up only feeling worse. When a man finds a woman, he now has someone to connect with on this extremely personal level, and poor women sometime find themselves bombarded with a mans issues that could go as far back as forever. When a man lets go, he lets it ALL go. And unlike women, men just want more of a listener, Not someone who is going to start there response with, "What you NEED to do is...." that is a no, no. Men can only fix their problems, THEIR way. When you start telling him what he Needs, or needs not to do, then you are making him feel like he can't handle him own problems and if he could then he wouldn't be telling you about them. What they want is a hug, or a comforting voice to say “its ok”, a little back rub, some kisses. You know, just comforting and support. Make sense? Men ARE emotional. We just express in different ways, but the core feelings are the same. And DON’T try to force a man to open up if he doesn’t want to.

quote: I think guys do appreciate girls being direct though, rather than just hinting.
The male mentality is: Demand, don't ask. when two guys talk about what they want, they are speaking as if in a dream world. "I love those new [whatever]" For a woman this could be a not so suddle hint on a good gift idea, but when a man hears it, he thinks about that as if he himself said it, and normally when a man says something like this, it is "If I had a million dollars" type thing. Not something they are latterly asking for. In which case for a man it would sound like: "I need [or I got to have] one of them new [whatever]" Understand? Also, men try to be careful when gift buying, Especially for women. Men buying for other men it is quite simple because men take any gift as a compliment, where as women can take it as a insult or not. 1 man could by another a trash compactor, and he think it was a great gift. Where as a woman this would probably be taken as a insult. "Its my birthday and the best thing you could think to give me is a trash compactor?!" See again? So it is better to just come out and tell your man. "Buy me this" Then everyone is happy.

...Material things are ok. But a guy shouldn't feel obliged to shower his girlfriend with gifts all the time. Umm, I think most girls just want someone who loves and respects them, makes them laugh, someone they can talk to. Bex

In my friendship group, the guys are harder work than the girls! I dunno if it's just among my friends, but the guys are more insecure, need more reassurance. Maybe they aren't expecting gifts and romantic gestures so much, but they're certainly quicker to feel inadequate, or like things aren't going well. My boyfriend is anyway.
what do you think, are boys higher maintenance at this age? Or is gender not an issue, and it's purely down to personality?

My boyfriend was (*sob* because it's was and not is) an absolute gift-buying genius. For example: Deluxe leatherbound edition of John Donne's poetry complete with satin bookmark and gilt-edged pages, plus homemade heart-shaped chocolate fudge for Valentine's. And for me, poetry is THE gift. I'm totally into it. And if you give me chocolate I'll follow you around like a lost puppy. And for my birthday: concert tickets and a trip to the spa for the weekend, along with an absolutely gorgeous antique Chinese vase that matches my room. I can't believe he's straight (sorry, I know I was stereotyping.) I totally loved to brag on him, as you can see. But he moved far, far away with his mom who does charity work in the middle east. Geez, I miss him. Anyway, just to point out that not all guys are idiots. Love, Jen.
