as this is graduation season and a lot of people would be moving on to college and deciding majors i was just wondering which more important being happy in what you do or being successful at what you do considering the fact that happiness does not always bring success and success does not neccessarily translated into happiness. which ever way it works what are your thoughts on making decisions that could possibly shape the rest of your lives.

As someone who's really depressed right now, I'd give anything for hapiness...

I agree with drstrangelove and jazzeykitten. If you don't have success, you don't feel fulfilled, and if you don't feel fulfilled, you don't feel happy. When I'm doing well, and life's going great, I feel happy. When life really smells, I feel bad. I don't know, I guess success and happiness kind of go hand-in-hand, so I'd have to say both, which defeats the purpose of having an either/or question.

mi idea of success when i become older is being a well-known writer and a good college professor. marriage would be nice, and i'd like to have sextuplets (long story) or tiwns or something like that. i can be happy by just achieving one thing, but i still want to achieve my dream of following them all.

I agree very much with DrStrange. Very good point. I'm happy right now, but it's partly because of the success that I have.

i would choose happiness, afterall money cannot buy happiness....and if your happy you'd always be positive, and being optimistic is a good thing. Im gonna to end this because Im starting to trail off!

Happiness most definitely. My dad has been in the same job for 17 years and, though he makes a sufficient amount of money, he's always unhappy and complaining about his job. Even if it meant cutting some costs, I just wish he would quit sometimes. So I would say happiness is definitely more important overall. And if you have ambition then you can be successful at what makes you happy!

I'd like to have both, but I guess if I have to choose... Well, if by success you mean wealth, than I'd rather have happiness, but achieving happiness in life is a kind of succes, if that makes sense.

I would pick success if they could bottle happiness.

Well, if they're mutually exclusive, then happy. However, I'd find it hard to believe that on you're death bed you could look back at a life without much sucess and feel satisified.
